My goal for this homepage:
Originally, my page was for my friends and family to look at so they could see what I had been working on. It was also nice for the guys who wanted to see all of the modifications I had done on various models. As time goes on....we tend to move on to other interests. My taste in planes have changed since I started this page. I think I would like to have all current models that are flying, to be featured on my page. I used to be into the Clancy Aviation planes but now have just about had my fill of them for now. I have a couple left for the time being. Larger planes have really interested me for now. The old saying, "Bigger flies better..." is true. All of my planes from the past have been small (.25 size) and they just don't fly the same as a .60 size plane. I have a huge interest in autogyros, helicopters and of course airplanes. I also enjoy RC cars and trucks but currently have two RC monster trucks, one electric and one glow fuel.
I injured my back a few years ago and was out of work for a while but I did return to work. I eventually got worse again due to physical demands of my job, lack of proper equipment to do my job, along with some physical trauma from a couple idiots.....the back got worse. To the point I had to go out of work again. This time it was the worse it had ever been. Due to the seriousness of my injuries I am now on long term disability. The pain prevents me from participating in my hobby as I used to. Maybe one day when I am better....I can get back to flying as I did before.
For those of you who have written to me about the Clancy Aviation photos.....I have good news! Here is the link to go to my Clancy photo page....click on the Clancy Image below. Clancy Baby Bee, Lazy Bee, Speedy Bee, Gyro Bee and the Stagger Bee were the ones I have owned and built. I still have a couple laying around and at least three bees still in the box!!!!!

My Autogyro Designs
I enjoy design in general. I trained MYSELF in AutoCAD and enjoy designing RC aviation components. I have loved autogyros since I was a child and I want one very bad since then. My first "purchased" autogyro was the Gyro Bee attachment for the Lazy Bee. I eventually lost that in a huge field with 7 foot high grass. Afterwards, I wanted another gyro....but did not want to buy the New Lazy BEE ARF version. So....I started designing my own autogyro. I studied the theory and the history of the autogyro. I learned that Juan De La Cierva was the father of the autogyro and studied his accomplishments. I bought his book that has been out of His writings gave me the secrets to a true successful flying autogyro and I still use those fundamentals today. Some will will not give Cierva the credit that he deserves and that is just not right. Without his contributions, the helicopter would have not been developed as fast as it did.
The DAG-1
I had some stumbling blocks to deal with as I designed and flew my prototypes. Eventually I came up with the first design which I named the DAG. It was fixed pitch with roll, elevator and rudder controls. I designed my second gyro called the DAG-1 which had direct pitch, roll and rudder. I made some mistakes in the beginning by using weak servos for the rotor head control and it did not respond the way I liked. Then.....my helicopter experience came into play and realized I needed FAST and High torque servos. That was it!!!! I had total control using the head and rudder. That discovery came with a price....those servos were expensive. To keep the costs down.....I added an elevator option which helped the direct pitch and I could use cheap standard size servos on the head. After enjoying the success of this design....I decided I wanted a challenge. I designed a "load sharing" servo system for the rotor head that mixed the elevator and roll controls together to make a fast and strong cyclitic response. I can lean the rotor head back and pre-spin the rotors as I taxi down the runway. Currently.....I am making even more improvements on the DAG-1. I think I will keep the name the same....it will just look better!!!

Profile Kellet Autogyro
The next design is called the Profile Kellet Autogyro modeled after the Kellet KD-1 Autogyro. As the DAG-1....it too has flown with all three different rotor head designs, Fixed pitch, direct control and load sharing. This gyro design was pretty much uneventful since I now know the ins and outs of gyro design.
My Friend Richard Harris of the UK Built my Profile Kellet Autogyro

DAG-R2
With the success of the DAG-1, I designed the R2 as the next revision or level of my autogyro designs. The R2 was a challenge.....but it was really fun to design. I added formers and stringers to the fuselage to make it round instead of flat sides like the R1. The rounded sides presented many problems to overcome that were all resolved with the help of Rich Harris who actually built the R2 before I did! He is one Hell of a fabricator and RC gyro Pilot. So far Rich has built and flown all my designs. His version of the R2 is simply flawless.

My Foam Autogyro!
One night...I was playing around in the basement with some Depron foam. Before I knew it....I had made a Profiel autogyro out of foam!!!! It flies awesome and I am in process of making a new print for it that I will post on one of the forums and you can just download it and make one for yourself. It will look much different that the one on the video....stay tuned.
Here is a Video If my Little Foamie.....
Here are many of my designs being flown by many of my customers. Makes me very proud to see my designs being flown by others.....

The Corona 120 is a fixed pitch heli that is tough! I have crashed it a few time with only minor damage. The blades actually fold up on impact and are made of a very flexible plastic so the blades don't break unless it is very cold outside. There are a lot of hop up items that you can install on this heli to really make it perform! I have a carbon fiber frame, carbon fiber fins and tail boom, a brushless set consisting a Hacker C40 12L motor in it with a Hacker 40 Opto ESC. The Opto ESC will allow the servos to have a steady current and will never drop in voltage because of the motor drawing too much current away from them. I also am running lithium polymer packs now. They are so light and powerful. I can get three time the duration of a NiCad!!! These cells are the future of RC flight!!! I can get two ten minute flights. The charge lasts longer if I split the flight in two. It is easier on the lithium packs this way.
Upgrades:
Hacker C40 12L motor
Hacker 40 Opto ESC
Ultimate BEC (servo power)
Aluminum swash plate
Carbon fiber frame with Voyager E landing gear
7 mm titanium main shaft

LA Rotorshape Autogyro
What a fun compact little gyro to fly!!!! I have the best time flying this little gyro. Very inexpensive and is durable! I know that for a fact!!! I used an AXI 2208 motor and 11.1 volt 1350 milliamp lithium polymer cells. The rotor blades are the ordinary Clark Y profile and I sanded the bottom of the trailing edges for a fast spin up. For modifications....I added a working rudder and tail wheel for smooth landings.
Below is the icon for my photos. You will see some with the Rotorshape as it was originally. Then there are other photos of the modifications I did later.

This kit is still being manufactured and can be bought at most hobby shops. This was one of the first RC planes that I wanted. A fellow member of Wayne Modelers had it for sale and I could not pass it up. The only modifications I will make will be transforming it from a tricycle landing gear to a tail dragger. It will be powered by a K&B ringed .61 slimer. The Astro Hog was put on the market in 1957. It was the first successful low-wing R/C model and swept the top four places at the ‘58 Nationals and pioneered the unlimited aerobatic capabilities that was state of the art back then but what we all look for in a plane today.
This plane is an awesome scratch build project. Look at my links at the bottom of the page and look under "Plans". There, you will see Uncle Willy. Please visit his web site for the best plans anywhere. Tell him I sent you!!!!

Lanier Stinger 60 ARF
This particular model was given to me as a birthday present by my wife. I was very excited about it and finished it rather quickly. Once I was done....I wanted to fly it, but I was scared. I did not want to crash it. It sat around for a year! I sold it to fellow club member. He also never flew it for a year. The plane still being a virgin to the air was sold one more time. That owner...also did not fly it so now it goes to its fourth owner. He flew a couple times before it was pancaked on its belly from a dead stick situation. Now....the plane is pretty much destroyed with broken wings and a crushed fuselage. It was given back to me minus the engine and electronics. I rebuilt it back into its original state. I dropped a Magnum 91 four stroke in it with Hitec standard servos for controls. I have flown it many times now and it is an awesome flying machine. I wish I would had flown it years ago when I first got it. At least I got a second chance at her. I will never let her get away again!!!!

Eflite Blade CP
I have not had this heli for very long. It has been a lot of fun so far. The collective pitch makes flying such a pleasure. One thing I like about this helicopter is: It is so easy to work on! Not only that, Every RC forum has a thread on the Blade CP with guys who know the machine. I am by no means a serious heli pilot....but this is something I can fly in the driveway or in the basement. I have done some upgrades recently.
Upgrades:
- Aluminum head from Heli Hobby
- Head locking gyro
- Eflite burshless set up
- Plastic 3D blades (thin with low drag)
- Main shaft with one way bearing on main gear
- Heat sinks for brushless motor

The Observer
My good friend Carlos Molina gave this plane to me to take my mind off of my back pain. Something to play with while being stuck at home. I had a great time working on it. It is a real pleasure to fly....right now it is three channels. I will probably will either add ailerons or I may just build a brand new wing with them installed. I have not made up my mind on that yet.
For power I am using a Phasor 30/3 motor with a 12.5x4 Graupner prop. I use 2 packs of 2200 mAh 11.1 volt lipo cells in parallel. My flight time can push 15 minutes because of the undercambered wing creating a lot of lift.
