Color is one aspect of our total image. Each of us has colors we look best in, feel great in or just simply love. What does color say about our personality? Each season of the year has its distinctive colors, feelings, sensations, and energy flow. We often forget we are part of this natural order. Our inner makeup fits into the rhythmic and color patterns found in natureís seasonal cycles. Our personal coloring can also be classified into different groups that relate to seasonal colors. This seasonal color theory was developed by a color theorist working from the Bauhaus School of Art in Wittenburg, Germany. Johannes Itten observed that most of his art students wore and used colors in their artwork that complimented their natural coloring. He also noticed that their personal coloring had many similarities to the colors of the four seasons. He devised the method of color analysis of grouping people into seasons. This method has been used successfully to identify individual natural colorings throughout the world. Just as each season has a range of colors, each individual has a range of colors that suits their seasonal type. Not only do we find that our seasonal classification can give guidance to wearing colors that best suit our looks, but those colors will also best support and express our personality.
