My parents, and family have always supported, and encouraged me in my artistic pursuits. That means more to me than anything. I studied privately with local Dayton artist, and nationally known Lincoln scholar Lloyd Ostendorf, who provided me with such a sturdy foundation in art that it holds me up today as well as it did when I studied under him twenty-some years ago. Hal and Sue Blevins, owner of the Bookie Parlor sold my paintings and encouraged me constantly. My wife and daughters are a constant source of support and love.
I thank all the musicians who have enriched my life, people like Mike Roe and the 77s, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Reverend Gary Davis among others too numerous to mention...
Music, art, and spirituality have always belonged together in my opinion. There's an ethereal quality to all three, which cannot be explained in the natural realm. All three, being intangible, are able to affect the tangible in ways for good or bad. I truly believe God created all three for His glory, our entertainment, and hopefully our enlightenment as well. There's something incredible that happens when Jesus influences our lives through these mediums.
