All Breed Rescue of Texas*

All Breed Rescue of Texas is a small Houston-area rescue group which consists of three members, including Monika Heinz, a dedicated rescuer who steadily, methodically, quietly rescues dogs of all breeds. Italian Greyhounds, however, happen to be of special interest to her. She is active in the Houston area Italian Greyhound community and has been finding adoptive homes for them for ten years. Marco

Dad is an iggy, and mom is half-iggy and half-pug — and that makes me Marco. I'm a very handsome fawn with black overtones. I'll be getting neutered and micro-chipped very soon and then I'll be ready to go to my forever home.

My foster mom says I'm independent, but I already do really good in a crate (especially when I'm with my sister, Maya). I'm still working on my house-manners. I hope someone adopts us together, but my foster mom says she'll seperate us if she thinks we'll be happy in the right home.

Since I'm an IG/Pug-mix, my adoption fee is just $150.

Maya

Remi

Remi is a handsome seal and white boy who came to ABRT from the Montgomery County Shelter (together with Zeus, below). We assume they must have lived in the same house. Remi is more confident than Zeus, and is about 4-5 years old.

Remi is doing well with his house-training, but should be monitored and perhaps wear a belly-band for a few weeks in his new home. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated.

Zeus

This is Zeus. As you can see, he is a very cute, black-pied boy, who is about 3-4 years old. His personality is very sweet, but he is a little shy. He is a little short for an iggie and his ears often stick straight up.

Zeus is doing well with his house-training, but should be watched and perhaps wear a belly-band for a few weeks in his new home. He is neutered, micro-chipped, and fully vaccinated.

Samhara

Samhara is NOT an IG, but he is a close relative. He is a gentle giant sighthound who is the product of the accidental mating of a greyhound and a Saluki. Although he has the size of the racing greys, he has the delicate beauty of the Saluki.

This elegant boy, who is 2-3 years old, is so very calm and laid back as the Italian Greyhounds in his foster home try to drive him insane with their playfulness. The fluffy hair on his ears and the backs of his legs (called "feathers") are totally Saluki, and the silkiness of his pitch black coat is breathtaking.

Purebred Salukis are rather scarce, and they cost a small fortune to buy. Very few of them enter rescue because the high initial cost of buying one makes the buyers more cautious in their decision making. Samhara has all the elegance and gentleness of the breed, but because of his being a mix, he is available for adoption for a $250 donation to ABRT.
