Here is what Rocco's co-owner and handler, Mark Lucas, has to say about this outstanding boy... Rocco's litter was planned by an old friend, Phyllis Lynn. She contacted me and asked what I thought about Steve and Kathryn Leisz breeding their Lizzie to my BISS. Ch. Integra Uwharrie After Shock. I asked her what she felt she needed improvements, etc. Untypical of sending the stud dog to the bitch, I was in agreement and allowed Boomer to go visit Texas. The result was 3 beautiful puppies, one of which being Rocco. It was also the start of a once-in-a-lifetime friendship among Steve, Kathryn, Phyllis and myself. Rocco started his show career at the Houston Italian Greyhound specialty when he was a 6-9 month old puppy. He was Best in Sweeps and also Winner's Dog. He quickly became a champion with multiple best of breeds and group placements including a Puppy Best in Show. The following year at the same specialty, I saw Rocco again and was very impressed with the potential I thought this young dog had. He had such charisma and character, and he reminded me of his father whom I had lost shortly after the breeding of Rocco. Rocco came to North Carolina in the spring of 2006 and his show career can speak for itself —
Rocco is the only IG to ever win the Top 20, the People's Choice Award, and Best of Breed. Rocco is a great dog and he can withstand any toy competition. He is currently back in Texas with his breeders/owners and enjoying their family, including Steve and Kathryn's 3 boys. Rocco will occasionally return to North Carolina to be shown at various venues. |
