Ichthus—the meaning behind the name

Ichthus (EEK thoos) is the Greek word for “fish.” The symbol of the fish was one of the earliest signs that Christ’s disciples used to identify each other at a time when it was illegal to be a Christian. Each letter of the word pointed to the unique personal identity of Jesus Christ: I- Jesus; CH- Christ; TH- God’s; U- Son; S- Savior.

We believe that the essence of the Christian faith is not a set of ethical rules to keep or a collection of doctrines to believe, but through a personal encounter with the person of Jesus Christ as our Savior and Master. Jesus Christ is the focal point of our faith, and He is the one who gives meaning and purpose to our lives.

The Apostle Paul had this to say about Jesus:
We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God's original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels—everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.
Col. 1:15-16 (MsgB)

If you have any questions about Jesus Christ’s identity and mission here on earth, just let us know and we’d be glad to share with you what we have experienced through our personal encounter with him.
