Workshop with Susie Petrov
We are pleased to welcome Susie to kick off our 12th season. As always, we look forward to Susie’s lively and creative teaching style. Susie is arranger, pianist and leader of Local Hero, the popular Scottish country dance band. Susie spent the Spring 2000 academic term as guest lecturer in piano and ensemble work at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. In May 2001 she published a book of music that has become a valuable reference for dance musicians. Susie makes her home just outside Boston where she is a music teacher in an elementary school. Susie is frequently invited to play for dances and other Scottish events throughout the Northeast US.

Workshop and Dance with Elke Baker
1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. --- Workshop
7:30 P.M. --- Tea Dance at Poppenhusen
Elke’s workshop will be preparation for the ensemble’s appearance tonight at The Cameron Scottish Dancers Christmas Tea Dance. Elke will be presenting six arrangements for Scottish country dancing – an excellent opportunity to experience her creativity as a dance music arranger and acquire dance arrangements for your own repertoire. The ensemble is always enthusiastically received by the dancers and all are welcome to join in playing for this special event. In addition to our New York workshops, Elke directs the Potomac Valley Scottish Fiddle Club and plays with pianist, Liz Donaldson, in their popular duo, Terpsichore. In 1999, music from Elke’s recording, Over The Border, was featured in the score of the PBS feature film, The Boyhood of John Muir
