Welcome to HyFyre Belgians!

The Belgian Shepherd is a medium sized herding dog.  There are four types of Belgian Shepherd:  the long-haired black Groenendael, the rough-haired Laekenois, the short-haired Malinois, and the long-haired blackened fawn/mahogany Tervuren.  In most kennel clubs around the world, the four types of Belgians are recognized as a single breed with four varieties.  The American Kennel Club ("AKC"), however, recognizes each as a separate breed with the Groenendael referred to as the Belgian Sheepdog.  Fanciers of the Laekenois are currently seeking full recognition from the AKC.

My name is Victoria Hynes and I share my home with a Belgian Malinois, Hank, and a Belgian Sheepdog/Groenendael, Katie.   I had hoped to breed a few select litters of Belgians, however, I was forced to take a disability retirement.  The adverse change in my health and finances has made it unlikely that I will be able to pursue this goal on my own, but hope that Katie will prove a worthy dam in a co-breeding scenario with her breeder, Anita Meeks, once health clearances have been obtained.  I was also pleased that Susie Williamson chose to use Hank as sire for her lovely bitch, Dali's, first litter.  I have adopted the kennel name of HyFyre, "Hy" from my name and "Fyre" because of the Belgians' exuberance and the rich mahogany of some of my dogs' coats.

Ch. Merson's Hammerin' Hank RN CGC TT HIC

Co-owned with his breeder Susie Williamson, Hank is the picture of enthusiasm and good cheer.  He has never met a stranger and assumes everyone wants to be his buddy.  Hank was my constant and devoted companion while I was recovering from total hip replacement surgery.  He  was bred to the beautiful Dali, winner of the 2003 American Belgian Malinois National Specialty, resulting in seven lovely puppies.  Visit http://www.mersonmalinois.com/hank_dali_litter.html for details on this special breeding.  Hank completed his Rally Novice title on 7/6/07 with a score of 96/100. The following day, he earned a perfect 100/100 and third place. (In case of a tie, the judge looks to course time.)

Spitfire's Atchafal Aya Katrina RA CGC TT

Co-owned with breeder Anita Meeks, Katie follows in Clarissa's paw prints as a Belgian Princess. Although she loves her "brother," Hank, she expects to be the center of attention as befits her royal status.  Katie was Reserve Winners Bitch to a five point major both days at the shows held in Canton, Texas, on 10/14/06 and 10/15/06.  She is very exuberant and we have high hopes for her in both conformation and performance events.   On 7/7/07, Katie earned her first two points toward her championship by winning Winners Bitch and Best of Winners honors at the Greater Collin Kennel Club show in Dallas.  Judge: James G. Reynolds.  In February of 2008, she passed the American Temperament Society's temperament test.  In March, 2008, she earned the first two "legs" or her Rally Novice title tying for first place with a score of 99/100 and earning 2nd place based on course time.  She finished her RN title and passed her Canine Good Citizenship Test in March, 2008.  On July 4th, 5th and 6th of 2008, Katie earned qualifying scores to complete her Rally Advanced title with scores of 95, 94 and 96, the latter earning 2nd place on a challenging course.

Tacara's Cuivre' Clarissa HIC (1991-2003)

The consummate Belgian Princess, Clarissa ruled the house with a velvet paw.  An agile girl, she was once spotted perched on my windowsill.  Clarissa died December 13, 2003, exactly one year after I lost Gunner.

Victoria's Silver Shadow CDX CGC TT TDI  (1982-1997)

What is a Cairn Terrier doing on the HyFyre Belgians page? Shadow was my first dog and an incredible introduction to the world of purebred dogs. He was the #2 obedience Cairn in the nation in 1989 (Shuman system) and a wonderful therapy dog bringing cheer to all as "Dr. Shadow." .
