SECURE LIVING Security verses insecurity is a human question and problem in daily life. How secure do we feel about our daily lives? Insecurity makes us fearful about our work, our finances, our trust of others, our health, our personal appearance, our level of education and abilities, and what the future holds. This is a shortened list, but don't forget fearfulness about failures, rejections and mistakes or sins. So, we must decide what to do about our fears. Where can one find security and encouragement for living in a fearful world?
JESUS AND SCRIPTURE/BIBLE PROVIDE THE ANSWERS SECURE CHRISTIAN LIVING
HEART OF SECURE CHRISTIAN LIVING
The heart of secure Christian living is the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Consequently, we
cannot live a secure Christian life unless Jesus is consciously reigning as Lord of our
life. This is more than merely using Jesus' name as a sort of mantra or secret word,
which mysteriously has extraordinary power. God will not honor something which is
only on our lips but not in our heart. Simple believing trust in Jesus and His all powerful
authority, in every human trial or condition, brings comforting security into our daily
life. No matter what we may be facing, when we see it as a problem/condition which
Jesus faces with us, we should know and feel confident that He will work it out through
us. We are never left alone by Jesus or the Holy Spirit. It is glory to God, our Heavenly
Father, when the triune Godhead enters into our life and the world of our living to secure
us in His grace. Jesus has made the way of access to peace with our heavenly Father by taking our place
in death on the cross. Uncondemned, we stand fully forgiven of all our sin and are
justified through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord of life. In the Gospel of Matthew,
chapter eleven, Jesus tells us that all things are given ("paredothe" Gk. from
"paradidomi" meaning to give over, hand over, to deliver up, to commit, to entrust) to
Him by the Father. Therefore, He reveals the Father to those who come to Him. Rest
from the insecurity of the present world will be given to the one who seeks the Father in
Christ. We are given real and true knowledge of fellowship with God our Father through
Christ Jesus when we yoke ("zugos" Gk. meaning a cross bar or band, yoke) together
with Christ Jesus. Life becomes a joint venture of occupation while yoked together with Christ
Jesus. This is easy work in the earthly ministries of Christ. Ministries of healing, blessing, encouraging, admonishing, giving and forgiving, all in the power of love("agape" Gk. steadfast unmerited love). Love makes everything easier and more fully rewarding. See I Cor. 13. NEW MAN (person) It is wonderful to know that an old person can become a new person in Christ. Paul, writing in Ephesians, chapter 4:24, admonishes us to put on the new man ("kainon" new as in new wine, new testament, new garment). But before we can put on the new, we must put off the old. The life lived in our carnalities of sin in all of its manifestations: vain thinking ("mataioteti" meaning vain, useless, depraved), hardness of heart, lusts/covetousness, foul and unclean behavior, must be stopped and put off as unbecoming a follower of Jesus. Sinners, everyone, must become a new person in Christ which Father God has ordained that we become by the renewing power of the Holy Spirit. Its not enough to try to change ourselves from bad wasteful habits or addictions. We must turn to God's renewing, personal presence in our individual lives, to live the new life, found for us in Christ's redemptive plan. Totally new is what we become in our faith of Christ. Old life and habits of evil and deceitful facades must fall away and a whole new, pure unhypocritical character will come.
