HOWARD WATSON CHRISTIAN STUDY PAGE,10-30-09 As I end Oct. '09 and look ahead to November, I thank and praise our Lord for continuing good health as I had my annual physical exam, a full visual exam and dental work and exam. (Again, I witness to the grace of God in Christ in saving me through Christ's redemption and leading me in a life of no tobacco, no alcohol and a monogamous marriage to Barbara, thus no venereal diseases, and finally no hospital stays since the age of six or seven.) Last Sunday, I preached at the Green Valley Mission near Elkview, WV. This Sunday I'm scheduled to preach at the Bible Baptist Church near Charleston. Barbara is well and more and more happily involved with our grandsons and maybe less with me. Yet, I'm probably as involved with them as she is. These senior days are fuller and going faster. I'm getting plenty of exercise raking leaves since I have both huge and smaller trees near my house. We must be gravely concerned about the direction our elected leaders are leading our country, that is into deeper debt and lower in support of Biblical morals which clearly identify pure godly sexuality in marriage between a male and a female couple. We need to pray for a return to sound and Biblical morality from the White House to the poor house. We need to pray for Christian Church revival which would affect our society in all its phases including elected government. 10-4-09 Today was full of fellowship/ministry for me and Barbara. In the morning and evening I preached at the Kanawha Baptist Temple. Pastor Curtis Patterson was on a camping trip with his father for a few days. My long time brother/friend Opie Mitchell was present and is a leading supporter of the church and Pastor Patterson. In the afternoon I fellowshipped with my home church, the Farrar Memorial Baptist Church of Rand, WV, in their seventy-fifth year of serving our Lord in the Rand community. Brother Dr. Glenn Mathews, who is nearly a life-long friend/buddy, was the guest preacher and revival leader. Many of my old friends from past days were there, some whom I hadn't seen in thirty to fifty years. We enjoyed a great service of fellowship and ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9/24/09 Barbara and I are on our southern vacation this week beginning last Sunday by traveling to Greenville, S.C. to visit with widowed sister, Yvonne Knapp. We arrived in time to attend the 5:30 P. M. service at the Morningside Baptist Church with Yvonne. Many Christians from Bob Jones U. are members of this church and were present in the service. I shared time with George Rogier (Larry Rogers) a '55 graduate of DuPont High School, who grew up in Rand. He has been on the staff at Bob Jones U. for many years. We left Yvonne on Wednesday for Myrtle Beach, and plan to go to Morehead City, N. C. to visit with my brother Keith and wife Sherry. Brian Watson, Keith's son also lives in Morehead City. We plan to visit their church on this Sunday. The weather has been wonderful here, just right. We plan as the Lord wills to be back home early next week. 8/31/09 This past weekend Brian Watson, my nephew, and his bride Helen, stayed with us at the end of their honeymoon here in WV. They left after church and dinner to return to N. C. I preached again, Sunday at the Word and Faith Baptist Church. I'm scheduled to preach this first Sunday at 3 P.M. at the Bible Baptist Church near and east of Charleston, W.Va. Brother Tiny McCoy is scheduled to be our guest singer. I'm well and eager to continue my part in the Lord's ministry. 8/17/09 On Yesterday morning Barbara and I visited with the Bible Center Church in/on their new campus. I think they are running over 2,000 in attendance in their services on Sunday mornings. I remember attending service in their original building (an older house on Broad St. in Charleston in the early 50's. Reid Jepson was the founder and pastor, then and for many years. It was a joyous and blessed fellowship in the Word. Associate pastor Bill Tanzey, my friend and former co-worker in W.Va. Div. of Voc. Rehabilitation, served as one of the worship leaders. I have started a new study in the Epistle of Jude, which is found on this page. Aug. 5, 2009 I have begun my study on the Epistle of James. I pray for your blessing and help whenever you read my studies and other writings. 8/3/09 Barbara and I celebrate our forty-forth wedding anniversary on this Friday, probably with a get-together with some family members and then a weekend short trip/stay at Blackwater Falls. We enjoy Sunday morning worship with the guests and the visiting minister/preacher whenever go there most years. July 31, '09 This morning we continue to have rain here in our hill/valley community of Elkview/Pinch, WV. Around 5 A.M. I awoke to hear the rain outside the window. It's good for everyone's plants and gardens. Now, if I just keep the squirrels and deer from eating my plants and produce. The squirrels have found my green tomatoes tasty. I have finished my study of II Peter and look to start new book studies. I have two in mind plus get back to work on Isaiah and some of my other topics. Thank you for your prayers for my and the many Christian ministries and works being done in/by the Body of Christ. Although I'll be seventy-four in late August and have retired from previous work, I'm continuing my Christian ministry as our Lord opens doors. Praise the Lord, I'm in fine physical health. I give some credit to the fact that I've never been a beer or an alcohol drinker nor a cigarette/tobacco user. I've studied, remembered and practiced our Lord's plan for the blessing of monogamous male/female relationship in a loving marriage. I just received a email forward this morning from Betty Stutler, a senior member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of the St. Albans, WV area where I pastored in the '70s, calling for prayer and Christian revival according to II Chronicles 7:14 in our troubled nation and world. As a preacher, I know that I have preached on this passage many times over the years. Will you join with me and other Christians in revival prayer? Also pray for the Oakridge Bible Church of Charleston, WV which is seeking a pastor. July 22, '09 Check out my new study of II Peter. July 5, 2009 Today, Barbara and I enjoyed the fellowship of our special first Sunday ministry/meeting with pastor Harry Hickman and the people at the Bible Baptist Church, just outside the city of Charleston, WV. June 22,2009 June activities including special ministry with the Bible Baptist Church, family get-to-getherings, a revisit to Barbara and my honeymoon site of Va. Beach, and a special Father's Day with my daughter, Stephanie, son-in-law, Ryan, and grandsons: Grant and Brady. We were in church service together, and Stephanie and the boys swam for their first time our new pool. This pool is about one-half the size of our original above-the-ground pool, which I took down last fall. I have continued my new study of I Peter, on my website. May 31,2009 My email ministry/activities has required so much time and taken me off of my website ministry, so I plan beginning in June to cut back my email work to emphasize and to spend more time on my website ministry. Also please continue to pray for my preaching/pastoring work. May 2,2009 Stephanie Jarvis, our daughter, celebrated her thirty-sixth birthday on April 30. It was a special time for our family. We have come through years of blessing and happy sharings together in the joy of the Lord. Little Grant keeps us thankful for his young and growing life along with his brother Brady. They get showered with our loving attention. Pray for Pastor Harry Hickman's family in the passing of a sister-in-law. Consequently, our special fellowship service and meal on tomorrow has been cancelled. Easter, April 12, 2009 A great day of celebration and fellowship with family, the Body of Christ and faithful rest is Easter in our home. Barbara and I joined our son-in-law and daughter with our young grandchildren, Brady, 4, and Grant, 1, for the special program at their church, the Elkview Baptist Church. It was a well performed program of music and the spoken word. I am thankful for our times and freedom for worship/fellowship/ministry in our great nation. Yet, I believe in an urgent and pressing need for revival and a return to godliness and righteousness here in America. April 5,2009 Today has been a wonderfully blessed day in fellowship and ministry with and to the Body of Christ. This AM I visited with the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on Ambler Ridge in Roane County. This afternoon I preached again at the Bible Baptist Church where we expressed together our joy and hope in Christ Jesus. After the service, pastor/brother Harry Hickman's wife, Yvonne, supervised the preparation of a full meal for all our enjoyment. Let me say, I'm enjoying preaching the "Word" with exciting freedom and love in these last days. 3/29/09 Barbara is now post-surgery at WVU Eye Treatment Center to correct an old problem. Her surgeon saw her this week to look over the results and sees normal recovery. I'm looking forward to more visits to churches to minister the Word. Next Sunday April 5, I'm scheduled to preach again in the 3:00 P.M. service, at the Bible Baptist Church, off route 60 east Charleston, WV. 3/12/09 Because the Lord is sitting in the seat of authority beside God our Father, this day is one of blessing and hoped for resurrection to a glorious new world through Jesus Christ. Even though, daily, we are confronted with pressure, sicknesses and death, and although we are tested and tried, we will look upon our Lord to hear Him say well done. And that will mean our weaknesses and failures have been overcome and finally we stand completely as glorious vessels of Christ Jesus. 3/9/09 Yesterday, I preached again at the Bible Baptist Church in the 3 P.M. service. I look forward to getting back on schedule there. I'm happy to able to preach again later this month at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where I pastored about thirty-five years ago. 2/5/09 February is moving by rapidly as money concerns occupy the people and our time. There is much concern about finances among the public with everyone watching the daily news. News programs on radio and TV are putting out lots of talk about financial rescues for anybody in financial trouble with credit and standing loans or need of loans to pay for or to buy things. What may be the answer is a year of jubilee with loans forgiven and property returned to the original owner. Too many are pressed with debts of their own creation. Long ago Barbara and I chose to never accept more credit than we could pay off quickly. So, today we don't worry about foreclosures. However, everyone needs to be concerned about the value of their dollars and savings. We are almost daily receiving more requests for donations from independent ministries which are long established Christian programs and works. Pray for Barbara and some on going health issues which are not life threatening but require medical attention. Pray for me and the works which Our Lord has for me to do at this time. JANUARY 6, 2009 The weather is mild and warmer here today. Our house has been without hot water for a little while, but we installed a new water tank this morning. And, I took a nice warm shower afterwards. Barbara could hardly wait to get the hot water flowing again. Tomorrow I'm scheduled to preach in the morning at the Hurricane Baptist Church in Clio, W.V. and then in the afternoon at 3:00 P.M. at the Bible Baptist Church, off route sixty east of Charleston, W.V. Last Wednesday I preached at the Watch Service of the George's Creek Baptist Church. Bro Lyle Young is pastor. I'm scheduled to preach at the Hurricane Baptist Church, weekly this month. DECEMBER 1, 2008.
It's nearly 2009 and our physical life may soon come to an end for any of us but more likely those of us who are past forty, sixty, and seventy. I'm past seventy and many of my friends did not make it much past seventy. Nevertheless, for me, dying is not a worry, but doing everything according to the Lord's will is my emotional/personal goal and objective. Also, I've got another immediate objective and that is to find gifts for Barbara for her birthday and Christmas. I enjoy doing this; it's fun and exciting. Serving the Lord Jesus is always exciting and satisfying everyday. So, I've been enjoying ministering the "Word" to the Hurricane Baptist Church of Clio, WV and plan to continue at least through December. 11-2-08 Again I preached at the Bible Baptist Church, where Harry Hickman is pastor. Next Sunday I'm scheduled to preach at the Word and Faith Baptist Church, where Calvin Ray is pastor. Other plans for November are tentative, and may include more studies/writings for/on my website. Barbara and I are fine and have gotten our flu shots. Our grandsons continue to provide great joy, as we watch them grow. We are praying that more people will be blessed through my Christian ministries. 10-10-08, TAYLOR UNIVERSITY reunion On this day Barbara and I arrived at Taylor U. Upland, Ind. for my class of 1958 reunion. We had a fine time with a great class Banquet in the beautiful dining area located on this greatly expanded and marvelous campus. About six members of our class provided significant leadership in the rebuilding of the present campus, including retired University president, Jay Kessler and class member Gene Rupp. I'm humbled and honored to be part of the Taylor U. Class of 1958. Our Lord Jesus Christ has had His hand on this wonderful group of people ('58 grads) as well as a cloud of past and present Taylor U. people. Let's continue to hold up Taylor U. and other Christian colleges and universities who fully credit Jesus Christ as Lord among their leadership and student bodies. Sept. 21, 2008 Today I preached at the Hurricane Baptist Church of Clio, WV., which is in Roane County a few miles from Clendenin, WV. and about twenty-one miles from my home in Pinch, WV. I think I first preached to these saints about thirty years ago. Friends, think, how time is passing. Next Sunday I'm scheduled to preach at the Starcher Baptist Church in the north Charleston, WV. area where brother Thomas Moore is the pastor. The first Sunday of October (10/5/08) I'm scheduled to preach at the Bible Baptist Church just east of Charleston at 3:00 P.M. Brother Harry Hickman is pastor. Brother Tim McCoy is scheduled to sing as our guest singer. Tim is the nephew of the late Doris Howery, who worked with me as my secretary for many years at the WV Div. of Voc. Rehab. She was a great supporter of Tim and his gospel singing. I'm sure looking forward to having Tim be our special singer. Also I'm scheduled to preach at the Word and Faith Baptist Church, of Falling Rock, WV. where brother Calvin Ray is pastor, at 6:00 P.M. on October 5, 2008. The Lord blessed me to found the Word and Faith Baptist work in l985 in Charleston, WV. My wife Barbara and I are so happy with our two little grandsons. The Lord allowed us to wait for a while before He bestowed this blessing. I pray that my web ministry will increasingly bless, help and bring more people to a fuller knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Please help with your prayers. HLW August 29, 2008 Today, is very good for me, since my recent birthday (8-26) I can still preach and proclaim that Jesus is Lord at the fine old age of 73. I am still free of any hospitalizations for medical treatment, therefore, with this kind of health, I'm blessed to get on with mentally, physical and socially reaching out to others in the name of Jesus Christ. May the Lord be lifted higher and greater through each member of the Body of Christ! Lord, help me to preach in your name until I leave this world! August 5, 2008 This month is special for Barbara and me, as we will celebrate our forty-third wedding anniversary. Also, I will be celebrating my seventy-third birthday. This past year has gone by fast for us and our little family. We now have two grandsons under six years of age. Our blessing have been great and happy. I've enjoyed preaching God's Word as much and maybe more than ever. I've experienced a minimum number of aging problems, mainly as some soreness and joint discomfort upon starting up physical activity in the morning. This seems to be caused by moderate to heavy exercise and is relieved by movement and exercises. All of us need to adjust to our aging bodies. July 13, 2008 This past week Barbara and I returned to our honeymoon site: Virginia Beach, Va. for a few days. It was a bit rainy. Virginia Beach is a beautiful beach and city. We've returned many times. Today we worshipped again with the Saints at the Big Chimney Baptist Church. June 8,2008 Today Barbara and I were at Blackwater Falls in northeastern WV and attended a morning worship service lead by a Lutheran minister/pastor for the second time in two years. He was raised in Kanawha County and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church where an old friend, psychologist Don Auer was a member for many years until his passing a few years ago. Pray for Sharon Pouncey wife of brother preacher/pastor Bill Pouncey. She has cancer and is under the care of Hospice in Tenn. MAY 29, 2008 Yesterday I was involved as a speaker in the funeral service for brother Paul McNeil a long time member of Eskdale Baptist Church. Please pray for this lovely Christian family. Also continue praying for Pastor Harry Hickman and the work at the Bible Baptist Church where I usually preach monthly in the first Sunday 3 P.M. special service. Now, that Eskdale Baptist Church has a local minister I can serve other churches and places in ministry. May 11, 2008 Mother's day is special in many ways. We can share time with our wives and our children and be thankful for their valued love and giving of themselves to us. Today Barbara was honored as wife and mother. Both Barbara's and my mother are resting in/with Jesus. We remember them with deepest love and look to being with them again. While Barbara was worshipping with Stephanie, I worshipped with the Saints at the Word and Faith Baptist Church which the Lord led me to begin over twenty years ago, which now is located at Falling Rock near Clendenin, W.V. April 27, 2008 This morning Barbara and I worshipped for the first time in about twenty-five years with the saints of the Fellowship Baptist Church on Route Sixty at Mall Road, Barboursville, WV. This church was founded by Dr. Fred Brewer. They're being led by their pastor, Jerry Warren, D. Min. D.D., in a period of special prayer, fasting, personal growth and witness over the next few weeks as they seek revival and RENEWAL OF THEIR PASSION FOR CHRIST JESUS. This is the church which my long time friend and fellow pastor/preacher John Bourne was an active member beginning in the 1980's. I missed him today. Thank and praise the Lord for His work among and through His great body the Church. April 11, 2008 Eskdale Baptist Church is ready to call a pastor. Pray for them and this brother, as they join to consider our Lord's will. Barbara and I plan to join our daughter and son-in-law when they dedicate Grant to the Lord this coming Sunday at the Elkview Baptist Church. April 4, 2008 This afternoon (3:pm) Barbara and I continue our ministry with pastor Harry Hickman and the Saints of the Bible Baptist Church just east of Charleston, WV. I'm still helping the Eskdale Baptist Church through difficult times, as needed, I want be be more useful to the Lord in the Body of Christ and the fellowship of love for one another and in witness of His Word. April 2, 2008 This evening Barbara and I shared in the fellowship the Saints of the Big Chimney Baptist Church. Since our marriage in 1965, while I was pastoring this Church, we have continued our fellowship from time to time with these Saints in Christ. March 22, 2008 Tomorrow morning, starting at 10:00 a.m. Easter Sunday, I am honored to minister again to the people/saints at the Eskdale Baptist Church, where I have had a long time fellowship/ministry to/with, beginnning in 1964 as their licensed pastor. Pray with us for the Body of Christ at Eskdale and for the lost people of Cabin Creek. May our living Lord, Jesus Christ, be exalted in His Body of Believers everywhere, as we celebrate His resurrection and living ministries in and through His Body worldwide. Our time for ministry is shorter than ever before. Mar. 16, 2008 This morning Barbara and I visited to worship with the saints of the Great Commission Fellowship of Mink Shoals/Charleston, WV. This is a Christian Missionary Alliance Church. In 1954-55 I joined a Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., while in my freshman year of college at Tenn. Temple Coll./U. Otherwise, I have always been a member of a local Baptist Church. We all know that Baptists emphasize the new birth and baptism by emmersion. But, the new birth (birth from above) places us into the Body of Christ, not our baptism. Thereby, the Body of Christ is much larger than any local congregation, and the ones which our Lord counts as His own sheep/church/bride are those of the new birth. We love each other because the Lord loves us and pours His love into our hearts. We were greatly blessed in our fellowship with pastor Robert Barbazette and the church. Feb. 28, 2008 Yesterday was my only sister, Yvonne Knapp's birthday as she begins her 70s. My daughter, Stephanie, and I, with her two sons, called and wished her a happy birthday in song. Brady talked and Grant made baby sounds to Yvonne's delight. Barbara had her ureter stent removed yesterday and is doing fine. Last Sunday we visited the Oakwood Baptist Church and saw old friends: Bill and Mary Older, from my pastoral days of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Raymond and Mary Kay Bumgardner, formerly from the Farrar Mem. Baptist Church, my home church; also Walt Showen from my days as choir director of the Grace Baptist Temple, which was almost fifty years ago. February 13,2008 Grant is now two weeks old and is doing fine. Barbara and I are sharing time with our daughter and grandsons, helping with their needs. Brady keeps me busy playing with him. We have great fun, and burn lots of energy. The Holy Spirit has impressed me frequently with the importance of the whole Body of Christ in the world. Born from above (born again) persons are the real Body of Christ. Since we have turn from self and sin to faith/trust in Jesus Christ, the head of the Body of Christ, we are commanded to carry out His mission to the world. That's where the local church comes in as united by God's "agape"/love for one another and our Holy Spirit given gifts and places of individual service. All pastors need to faithfully teach and work to equip the people under their leadership for the daily work of ministry and witness in the world. JANUARY 30,2008 Our daughter Stephanie gave birth via Caesarean method this morning. He is Grant Alexander Jarvis. Birth weight was a little over seven pounds . He is beautiful. Stephanie and Ryan now have two sons, and Barbara and I have two grandsons, Brady and Grant. I'd be pleased if one is graciously called into the Gospel ministry someday. And, Stephanie is doing fine. Thank and praise the Lord for His mercy endures forever. HLW January thirteen Barbara came home on Wednesday the ninth and is doing well following major kidney surgery. I've done attendant/nursing service, including today. She will see her surgeon on this Thursday for followup. I've finished chapter seventeen of John and downloaded it. Since Barbara (Barb, Bobbie) has come home I've done my ministry by telephone and the internet. Thanks, to all for your prayers. January one, two thousand eight Winter is here in Pinch, WV with snow and cold weather. It is time to heat up the house and build a fire in the fireplace. With less outside demands, except for moving snow as it piles up, I can study and work more on my website writings. I've started several topics which I can add to, plus write more devotions and book studies including finishing my study of the Gospel of John. I just this past week added my study of John chapter fifteen. Bishop Doctor John Benny of India has made his work known to me over the past month, while asking for prayer and offering a call to come to India for a visiting ministry with him and his fellow pastors, evangelists. I will seek the Lord's will and I'm certainly pleased to be invited. Please pray for this rural ministry to the poor, orphaned, widowed, prisoners and other people of India which has a goal of establishing 2,000 new churches in the upcoming years. Doing my internet ministry is a challenge particularly since there are more obstacles than I had imagined at the start. I have greatly enjoyed doing this new ministry, this late in my life. I've developed a growing fellowship with many of my old and new friends. It is a thing to keep you alert about hacker types who try to interrupt, deface and abuse the Lord's Body of people. We're like lambs among wolves at times. I still have some dull pain from Shingles on my upper back; however, I'm not experiencing any particular stress about it. Barbara, my wife is scheduled for laparoscopy short stay surgery on the seventh, to relieve a kidney problem. Pray that this will be successful. Our daughter Stephanie is pregnant with another baby boy expected in early February. She's wobbling around now trying to rest up. Pray for her and this new baby. I'm trying to followup with the ministries that I have done in the past and up to this time. This goes back to churches in the early sixties beginning with the Eskdale Baptist Church on Cabin Creek where I have ministered much of the past five years. Barbara and I pray that all of our internet friends do well and be fully blessed in our Lord Jesus Christ each day of this new year. DEC. 2,'07 Today we concluded our series of special services with Brother Harry Hickman at the Bible Baptist Church, although the attendance was less than we had hoped, I think hearts were blessed and many were encouraged at this Christmas season as we again showed our love for one another and our Lord Jesus Christ. Keep praying for brother Hickman and the church. NOV. 18,07 Another beautiful day here in Pinch, WV., a time for special worship and fellowship in Christ. I've finished a new devotional on this page. We are into the third Sunday, at 3:00 p.m., of special services at Bible Baptist Church, with pastor Harry Hickman. Special music to glorify the Lord is part of each service in addition to my message from the Word of God. Everyone is welcome. Nov. 12, 07 I'm still itching and aching some as my shingles are still affecting nerves in my back. Please pray for me in special preaching/ministering services at the Bible Baptist Church, just east of Charleston on old Rt. 60 on each Sunday at 3:00 p.m. continuing through December 2, with pastor Harry Hickman his people, and friends in the surrounding communities. Oct. 25, 2007 I'm now passing through the healing stages of Shingles; on my mid-back, mainly; lots of dull pain at times, but I have not taken any meds including pain relievers. My last sleep was good. I preached brother Buzzard's funeral on Oct. 17, 2007. Plese pray for his family. I'm considering doing a new devotional weekly on this webpage/site. Keep checking on "Daily with Jesus" new devotional area below. Sept. Oct. 07 September is past, summer is past and the fall of the leaves is beginning here in Pinch, WV. Yet, it is still warm and sunny with temperatures in the 80's and 90's to our delight. WV is a lovely place to live and I pray that our people won't forget and turn from our great beautiful life here to false deceitful pleasures of the world and satan including foolish money gamble, drugs/dope, alcohol, wild loose sex and debauchery. With the Lord Jesus filling us with His Holy Spirit in all areas of our living, our lives will continue to be greatly exciting and blessed. I'm excited as ever and get more so as time passes about the hope which I have for today and forever in Christ Jesus. On yesterday I preached my last scheduled message at the Eskdale Baptist Church as their supply preacher as I have done for about eighteen months. Pray with me for the people in Eskdale/Cabin Creek and the Christians at Eskdale Baptist Church. I ask special prayer for brother William (Tater) Buzzard who had a bad bicycle accident and is hospitalized in CAMC MEMORIAL with fractures. He is the only living, currently active deacon of the Eskdale Baptist Church. My daughter Stephanie is pregnant with her second child. Brady Jarvis, her near three year old is such a great pleasure to us all. They dropped by this evening which excited Barbara and me, as we got to entertain and be entertained by them. These seem to be the happiest days of our lives in many ways. This month is homecoming month for many churches and colleges/universities including Taylor U. of Upland, Ind. where I graduated in the class of '58. I look forward to next year which will make fifty years since I graduated.
Aug. 31, 2007 This month has passed and will be remembered by many for differing reasons. I'll remember it as the month of my forty-second wedding anniversary with Barbara and on last Sunday I turned seventy-two. I'm blessed and thankful for all my days. My health remains stable and free of any known debilitating problems. Next month I'm scheduled for a visual exam and a dental cleaning. I plan to continue with Christian ministry, preaching and teaching the Word, to stand up for righteousness, truth and the love of God with love among Christians, to be kind but firm in preaching against ungodliness, worldliness, and to call sinners to repentance towards God and to believe upon Jesus Christ. Aug. 7, 2007 On Aug. 7, 1965 Barbara and I stood together in the Clendenin Methodist Church, her church of membership, before her uncle Rev. Frank Young and publicly declared our marriage together for all life until death. These forty-two years have passed in great blessing and union together. We have been blessed with a wonderful daughter, her husband and a grandson. Our life has been good, happy and satisfying. We are thankful for all our family and friends who have made us a part of their lives.
SUNDAY AUG. 5, 2007 Today I ministered again at the Eskdale Baptist Church. My morning message was from I Cor. 14. On last Wednesday besides ministering the Word, I walked in front of the Church site while holding a vote NO sign to the passing people/vehicles on Cabin Creek Road. I urge everyone to vote against expansion of gambling in WV and Kanawha County on Sat. 8/11/07. Barbara and I voted our "Nos" early on last Friday in Charleston. I pray for a spiritual awakening in our area, state and nation. People exploiting others through gambling will destroy us in time. Gambling proponents claim economic expansions and jobs. I believe their promises will fall short. Jobs will be short lived and bankruptcy will disrupt more lives. Families-Homes will go broke and crime will increase at all levels. Hardness and bitterness of spirit in depression will hound more and more persons. Churches and believers will decline in number and influence as more and more people migrate elsewhere.
August 11, 2007, is the date for voting on gambling expansion in Kanawha County. We, the Body of Christ and friends can send the devil walking by voting NO. 7-7-07 June passed so fast that I have just realized that '07 is over half past. The summer of '07 is hot and restlessly wearisome in many places. I have been carrying water to our plants and flowers. And, I have lost several plants which have dried up and died. But, we must keep pressing on with added strength and effort in good times and bad times, in season and out of season. The Lord's work continues in all types of weather, places, and troubles. Most of our troubles and trials are passed and over before we can dwell on them very much. So, we need to keep following the Lord at all times, then we can accomplish the work which He is doing through us. Troubles and pressures will come our way but Jesus Christ is Lord of all. 'That' we learn anew moment by moment and day by day. My health continues to be fine. Although I'm retired from secular work I'm not retired from the work of Jesus Christ and the ministry of His word. Barbara has short'stay eye surgery scheduled this coming week. Yet, her current corrected vision is fine. She had previous cataract surgeries on both eyes. NEWS: June 13, 2007 I have been busy on the internet with my email and website work. Many of my main emailings are in my selected emails found above. Also, I have gotten to chapter ten in my study of the Epistle to the Hebrews. This is a very interesting study which I hope to have completed by the end of June. MAY 2007 Four months of this year are now history and May already is five days in passing. It seems that life's rushing rapidly from month to month. Yes, friends are now gone who were here last year. I've often thought over the past few years that I'd like to get together with the living members of the Trutone Quartet just to do a little singing in the front room. But now our last bass singer, Bob Jimison, has gone on to be with the Lord. If you have something like this on your mind to do before you leave to be with our Lord, I'd advise you to do it and not delay. Above all, this one thing is on my mind: preach all you can everytime you can, to the few and to the many. One day, one sermon will be the last. God bless all of you friends and be a blessing while you have time. MOTHER'S DAY I have joined those whose mothers are no longer here. I thank the Lord for my mother who not only bore me but raised me in the fear and devotion to Father/God. When I was saved/born again, the person who first heard me witness to Jesus Christ as my Savior/Lord was mother. I believe that she is in the Lord's presence enjoying this day. May 24,2007 We are now looking towards Father's Day: June 17. If your father is still living, spend some time with him as we approach Father's Day. If he has died drop by his burial place and remember. Barbara and I have just this week visited the graves of her mother and father in Lewis County. Take time to smell the spring season and deliver the roses. Brother friend and preacher Clifford Tucker is very ill and weak, and needs our support and prayers. Brother Tucker has always been very supportive of Barbara and me in our Lord's work; more recently at the Eskdale Baptist and the Bible Baptist Churches. May 29, 2007 Over the past few days Barbara and I have visited the burial grounds of parents. We realized how much we miss them and look to seeing them again with Christ Jesus and the family of God. Christians look toward the final goal and prize of eternity with God our Father in Christ Jesus. No more death and suffering because of sin's penalty. Jesus paid it all. He is due all praise, honor and thanksgiving by those who are trusting Him in the abundant life that is still available here in this misguided and Satan deceived world. June 3, 2007 Last Wednesday morning brother Clifford Tucker was called home. We had planned sometime ago that I preach his funeral sermon; I did on Friday, June one. Pray for all of bro. Tucker's family and friends who will miss his kindness and warmth of love for others. SEE MY PAGES ON YAHOO: http://www.geocities.com/hlwatson67
