FUMES

There is something worse than cigarette smoke, gasoline fumes, diesel smoke or coal ash, which only affects the physical environment, and that's the moral and social fallout of gambling which affects the heart and soul - basic life, family and society of the habitual addicted and deceived gambler. hlw

SERMONS

Dry sermons: may it not be so! Thirsty people need the water of life which is plentiful. When we preach Jesus Christ as the crucified and risen Son of God, we are on the water line from a life giving endless well of living water, which is caused by the spiritual rain come from heaven.

FUTILE LIFE...

Is there some place you'd like to go, but can't? Is there something you'd like to have, but can't? Is there something you'd like to change, but can't? How much time do you spend dreaming and thinking about this kind of lacking and want? Dreaming is not a sin; wishing is not evil. What makes life futile, empty and sinfully depressed, is not going anywhere or failing to receive others on a journey your way, having but always wanting more, and wishing for something, which God says no to.

ABUNDANT LIFE

Blindness

"In football a ballcarrier can stiff-arm the would be tackler and sometimes run by him; in life when a person tries to stiff-arm God his arm will break. You can't get by the living God!"

MARRIAGE

Barbara and I are like a tree and its soil. Sometimes she's the tree and I'm the soil and sometimes I'm the tree and she's the soil. Whichever it is, one depends on the other. In this way a husband and wife depend upon one another.

NOT HOME YET

Christians may have come a long way but home is still ahead. Let's press on with the Apostle Paul and keep reaching toward Christ and our perfection and home in Him.

PERFECT PEACE

Peace does not come to or from rebelling sinners who rebel against God. Peace eternal comes from Christ Jesus who is our peace with God and all people.

EVERY DAY

Everyday with Jesus is a special day, even though your thoughts may be ordinary and repetitious. As long as our thoughts are good and virtuous in Christ we'll never have a sense of emptiness and defeat as the day ends.

GROWTH IN CHRIST

Growth in Christ is not peaches and cake, nor is it vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate syrup. It is vinegar and salt. See Christ on the cross when vinegar was put to His mouth. Hear Christ when He said you are the salt of the earth.

Growth in Christ is vinegar in our bitter inner struggle with our fleshly nature and our cross of self-denial. It is salt in our perseverance and faithfulness in life's witness of our Christlikeness to the world about us. It gives the special taste of Christ from us to others.

THE NEW YEAR

We who live to begin a new year begin by getting a new paper calendar that has one year, separated into days and months. Sometimes we call this a planning calendar. This all looks good on paper, but the paper is no good unless God signs it.

God does not promise the next day on earth to any of us.

LOVES

Some people love things: houses, trees and plants; or they love creatures such as dogs, cats, birds, or deer. But those who really know and experience the deeper love seek God's presence in their hearts through Christ Jesus. This love is not based upon our seeing with our natural eyes, or holding in our hands. It is based upon an inward experience of love from God and then outward to others.

TELLING THE TRUTH

If you can't tell it on the mountain maybe you shouldn't tell it anywhere. And if it can't be shouted from the rooftop maybe it shouldn't be told in the closet.

NO TRASH OR JUNK

This world is a trashy, junky place, because human beings make it so, but in heaven there will be no trash or junk laying around because things won't be useless or old and need to be dumped somewhere. Hell is the eternal trash heap.

REAL BELIEVERS

Real believers upon Jesus Christ are conquering victors who don't give in to Satan, who don't give up to worldly problems or pressures and quit, and who don't give out to weaknesses of the flesh and spirit.

ADVISERS

Giving advice has become a major occupation, with newspaper, magazine, TV and internet advisers or psychics obtaining their livelihood from advising others. Jesus wrapped up His advice in the single word "love" and it's free. My saying: "God gives His love freely to all."

FEAR

We conquer our fears when God's perfect love is poured into our hearts.

BOOZE AND BEER

I believe the greatest "self killer" in use today by the old and the young is the combination of these twins. What great good would come if drinkers today would make this their pledge? "No booze or beer around here." They would see marvelous gains in everyway. Their health, self-esteem, social life and foremost their ability to hear the Word of God would be greatly improved.

LORD

"If you don't want Jesus to be your Lord, than Satan will take over, even though you may not consider it."

THIS IS LIVING!

"Give everything else over, open wide your heart, spend yourself in searching out the way of Jesus Christ. You'll find rich wonderful living."

ADDICTION

"An addiction is a locked in craving habit. It harms rather than helps."

DOING RIGHT

"The Lord helps if we don't stall and hesitate about doing His right and good will."

LEAVING

"We're all leaving sooner than later. So let's get rid of all our baggage, now. Let's not carry around things which we don't need. And the only thing that we really need is our faith in Christ Jesus."

REVIVAL

"Revival means returning to God in wisdom and humility. It means getting back to listening and communing with God in Jesus Christ. It means sharing the joyous message of redemption by the blood/death of Jesus Christ for sinners with the sentence of death upon them. It means cleaning up your total daily life to show Christ living in you by His Spirit's direction, control and power."

THE DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE

"Things thought to be impossible and difficult to understand with human beings are simple with/for Almighty God, for instance, the physical birth and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the coming resurrection of His people."

GOD DOESN'T HURRY

Although Almighty God can and does things in a blink of an eye, He never hurries. A day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day. See II Pet. 3:8.

RELATIONSHIPS

Good relationships come when we reach and relate to others with hearts of sincerity and truth without cunning deceit.

BUILDER

"The Lord Jesus Christ was/is a master builder, an expert fisherman and the Son of royal seed."
