Under contract with the U.S. Navy, Captain Thomas
was flying military personnel from Seattle, WA to Anchorage, AK
in February 1944. His plans to enter the service as a Naval
Aviator were ended by a tragic fatal flight when the aircraft crashed
into the Gulf of Alaska.
