The Hobbit Garden, Raleigh, North Carolina, hobbitgarden@att.net or hobbitgarden@yahoo.com zone 7b, est.1980

The HOBBIT GARDEN
is a work in progress. The garden
originally began at 611 N.
Boundary Street in downtown
Raleigh in 1980, by John E. Dilley
and Willie D. Pilkington. The
Boundary Street location housed
over 2,000 plants on 1/8 of an acre and spilled over to two neighbors properties. The garden was featured in several regional garden tours and several horticultural magazines and one local news segment. The garden had visitors from all across the United States and several European countries. Eventually the Boundary Street site was out of space. In December of 1995 the garden plants were relocated to it's current home at 9400 Sauls Road, Raleigh, North Carolina. The dream lives on to create a multitude of garden settings to accommodate rare and unusual plants collected from around the World. Consider contacting us for a private or group tour.
