The History Behind the Troop 42 and Peninsula Temple Beth El

Many scouts have been a part of good times at the temple. All sorts of activities continue to set the pace of Troop 42. The meetings here at the temple provide more than ample space. Since 1958 when Dr. Arnold Drucker started the scout troop, at this location, it was destined to be a troop that "leads the way" and by that, I mean that a very large percentage of scouts going through the activities, merit badges, and rank advancement have also completed the highest rank in scouting; The Eagle Rank.

This troop is unique. We have all that it takes to succeed. We have dedicated and qualified assistant scoutmasters, concerned and active parent participants, visitors, alumni, and most important, the scouts that organize and plan the events, which they proceed to energize and provide training for new scouts coming up the ladder of success!

Proud And With Continuous Strength

The rank advancement includes the posting of all Eagles on our plaque. Another plaque proudly displays the past Scoutmasters. The traditions continue in Troop 42. We provide all scouts with a neckerchief , the blue with an emblem that shows leading the way. When a scout reaches the Eagle Rank, he is awarded with the troops final acknowledgment. The Blue & White neckerchief divided in half on the triangle shows the move to the highest rank in scouting.

The Charter organization provides much support. Our troop also encourages the religious school participants to join the Troop, and includes several scouts affiliated with Peninsula Temple Beth El. All faiths from all walks of life are encouraged to join as well. No one religion is active. The scouts can receive their religious award from the teachings of any religious congregation or affiliation. Emphasis is put on the simple fact of a belief in God. As the liaison for the Brotherhood and Troop 42, I feel there is a constant feeling of support from each direction, and that makes my position easy. The approval process is easier. A sound structure of support to the Boy Scouts helps the community.
