Half Dome 1999

- Yosemite National Park
- When and What:
- Drive up on evening of Friday 17th June, Day a day hike up and back on Friday 18th, and return on Saturday 19th, in a leisurely fashion
- Who:
- 12 scouts, 7 dads, two teachers from Borel Middle School (21 total)
- Requirements:
- Pre-trip conditioning, and a can-do attitude
- Distance:
- over 17 miles round trip from Curry Village (on foot) on the valley floor (we all made it) , 4,800 ft elevation gain
- Accomodations:
- Tent Cabins in Curry Village
- Trip Coordinator:

- Experience:
- Mr. Levin and Mr. Hitchings did this hike in 1997
- Excitement:
- Sleeping in tent cabins below an imminent rockfall below Glacier Point
- Notable successes:
- Starting very early to hike in the cool of the morning, no one got any form of heat illness, we all made it to the top and back on our own two feet, we did not get crushed in our sleep by falling rocks, the cafeteria was still open (just) when the last two hikers dragged their weary bones in.
