Activities

Hiking into an abandoned gold mining ruin, the Arctic Mine

This trip will be scouted at least one month before the trip date. One trip option is to set a base camp at Golden Quartz Picnic Area and do a day hike from that location.

Directions: From I-80 take Hwy 20 west to Washington Road, 5.2 miles north on Washington Road to Washington, 3.3 miles east to the Golden Quartz Campground. 3 mile hike to the Arctic Mine. See Tahoe National Forest Map.

Note - we will not be doing the full hike between north and south trailheads, this reduces the diffficulty level of this hike.
