Psalms, a book comprised of and written entirely for the praise and worship of God, is the longest book of the Bible and has been placed as the center of not only the book itself but the center of every believers life.
Much of Psalms was written by David; however, after David appointed the Levites to minister praise and music before the the arc of the Lord much of the Psalms were written for Asaph and his sons as they ministered. These Psalms were used chiefly during daily worship as well as the celebration of the Sabbath and the Feasts appointed by the Lord. Songs of praise passed down from generation to generation recording the mighty works of God in times of trouble and in times of joy.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD."
