Philippians 1:16-17, "The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds: But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel."

In approximately 61 or 62 A.D. Paul wrote a letter to the church at Philippi addressing his current state of affairs. They had ministered to his needs through prayers and offerings and he desired to thank them for their continued support and to admonish them through love.

While imprisoned in the governor's palace Paul was set for the defense of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Always pressing toward the mark of the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Paul knew whether he lived or died Christ would be magnified in his body.

Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

The book of Philippians encourages us to walk with the same attitude or mind of Christ. Who, knowing the glory set before Him, He humbled Himself and endured the shame of the cross.

No matter what the circumstance rejoice in the Lord always. Continue in the joy of the Lord looking forward to the day of His return when all who believe in Him will receive a crown of glory, crown of life. Knowing that no matter what the cost, it is well, it is well with my soul.
