Deuteronomy 18:1-2, "The priests the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi, shall have no part nor inheritance with Israel: they shall eat the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and his inheritance. Therefore shall they have no inheritance among their brethren: the LORD is their inheritance, as he hath said unto them."

The book of Leviticus is the the third book of the Pentateuch because it explains the Levitical service. It is the third book of Moses.
The book reveals God's ordinances concerning worship. It includes laws regarding sacrifices, burnt offerings, meat offerings, thank offerings, sin offerings and trespass offerings. Laws concerning purity, separation of clean and unclean animals, the separation of the nation of Israel from the heathen, and laws concerning vows.
It reveals the anointing of Aaron and his sons separating them as priests unto the Lord throughout all their generations forever. Included in the Levitical law are the laws of the priestly duties in connection with the offering of sacrifices and temple service through purity and holiness.
In Leviticus we also find the laws concerning the celebration of the feasts of the Lord and the celebration of the year of jubilee. Leviticus 25:8-10, "And thou shalt number seven Sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubilee unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family."
The various ordinances contained in this book were all delivered in the space of a month, the first month of the second year after the Exodus. No other book contains more of the very words spoken by God Himself.
The book contains, in its complicated ceremonial, the gospel of the grace of God. This book is a prophecy of things to come, a shadow whereof the substance is Messiah and His kingdom (*Easton's Bible Dictionary.)

Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."

The book of Leviticus is a book of sacrifices and offerings in the form of worship unto God. A book of repentance and atonement because without the shedding of blood there is no atonement for the soul.
The words of this book reveal God as Jehovah-mekoddishkem, the Lord Who Sanctifies, "Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God. And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the LORD which sanctify you," (Leviticus 20:7-8.)
Through its words we are taught how to live a pure and holy life. How to pass the outer courts into the holy place and to be able to stand in the very presence of God.
