III John 1:2, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

Addressed to Gaius, who was probably a disciple in Asia Minor, this letter penned by John was written in approximately 90 A.D. Known as the shortest book in the Bible, III John is a letter full of encouragement.

Fellowship among the churches was extremely important; however, John's letter admonishes the reader to follow in the truth and to stay away from the evil which was creeping into the early church.

John 3:20, "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

Walking in the truth sets the believer free. Knowing the truth keeps him from stumbling. III John admonishes the reader concerning the truth in Jesus Christ.

Through the words of III John we see that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. Those who know the truth follow His commandments revealing His love to all those who believe and love the truth.
