Galatians 5:16-18, "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."

The early church was not without problems. During Paul's first missionary journey he traveled throughout Galatia bringing with him the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, during his absence believers called Judaizers, whom Paul refers to as false brothers, sprang up and began corrupting the message to include portions of the Law with grace leading them back into bondage.

Although the exact date of Paul's letter to the Galatians is not known it's message stands firm; grace is the gift of God and not of the works of the Law.

Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

In this account of Paul's writing to the church at Galatia we are taught that in order to live a fruitful life as a Christian we must walk according to the Spirit of Christ which God has given to all who believe.

Galatians 2:16, "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
