Accessories for SyQuest SyJet external drive

To use an external SyJet drive, you'll need the following accessories if you don't already have them:

a power supply ($4.00 - $9.95 with purchase of drive)
an external SCSI cable (of the correct type for attachment to your computer's SCSI port, or for daisy-chaining to another device already attached to your computer) or an adapter cable for a parallel port, USB port, or PC Card slot
one or more 1.5 GB hard-disk cartridges

You may also want:

an installation guide (some are downloadable for free)
mounting feet (to stand the drive "vertically" on edge)
a surge protector
a second cable for daisy-chaining another SCSI device to the SyJet drive
a SyQuest carrying case

A cable selection guide will be posted here soon. An original SyJet SCSI cable with 50-pin high density "SCSI-2" connectors at both ends can be purchased new for $7.50 with a portable SyJet drive. An original SyJet parallel-port adapter cable with printer pass-through can be purchased new for $24.95 with a portable SyJet drive. An Adaptec SlimSCSI PCMCIA adapter kit for removable drives can be purchased new for $59.95 with any portable SCSI drive. A variety of other SCSI cables and adapters are also available.

Installation Guides

The Installation Guides listed in the table below explain how to connect a portable SyJet drive to a PC or Mac SCSI port, or to a PC parallel port using SyQuest's special parallel-port adapter cable.

Buyers who plan to use a different parallel-port, PCMCIA, or USB adapter should refer to the instructions that came with their adapter, and will probably find some of the information in the following guides useful, too.

Carrying case

SyQuest's padded, zippered carrying case (Model No. C1001-S) is black with the company logo in one corner. Inside it are two dividers and a strap, all secured with velcro so you can reposition them as necessary. There is also a mesh pocket inside, to hold papers and cartridges. A shoulder strap is included.
