We've spent a great deal of
time and effort outfitting the ambulance with the equipment
and supplies needed during its service period. Jim's friend
and coworker Jason Greer, an EMT and fellow death
investigator, provided much of the research and many of the
supplies used in this project.

The previous owner had removed
the cot hook and safety rail for the squad bench, presumably
to keep them from snagging the inflatable carnival equipment
he was hauling. We immediately replaced those pieces. We
have since equipped the ambulance with an assortment of
vintage life saving equipment.

The car's equipment includes
an era correct Lifepak 4 defibrillator and this beautiful
Burdick III EKG monitor complete with power cables, EKG
leads and the ever handy EKG interpretation
manual.

The ambulance also has a
vintage trauma box stocked with supplies.

|
|
|
Both the trauma box and the
rear door cabinet are stocked with an assortment of empty
drug boxes. Many of the supplies and boxes were provided by
Jason Greer.

The ambulance is also equipped
with a Motorola APCOR and a pair of new old stock MAST
pants.

The aspirator's suction is
drawn from the car's engine vacuum and controlled by a
demand valve on the top of the suction canister. A
Welch-Allyn Sphygmanometer is mounted on the
bulkhead.

This dry chemical
extinguisher, still bearing the fire department's markings,
came with the car. We searched for over a year to find a CPR
"thumper" of the correct vintage for the car's service
period.

The car is also stocked with
an oral airway kit and a portable aspirator. Suction for
this aspirator is created manually using bellows operated by
a foot pedal.

|
|
|
The car is stocked with a
portable O2 bottle and Ambu bag along with a built in oxygen
system. Up front, the ambulance is equipped with a Motorola
Micor, Federal Interceptor siren and PA system.

Here's nurse Amy demonstrating
the operation of the car's ambulance cot. The two man
Ferno-Washington cot was supplied by a local funeral
home.
|
|
The overhead cabinet is fully
stocked with an assortment of pillows, fresh cot linens, and
body bags.
