Shirley's Hall China Reference Pages

Updated September, 2007

These pages are my efforts to provide enhanced information for collectors of Hall China.  My specific interest is in Hall China's refrigerator ware and undecorated Hall China kitchen ware. Items like Hall China Pitchers, Hall Jugs and the leftover and the butter refrigeratorware that came in appliances.

I also have an interest in Hall China's many glaze colors.

This is  a non commercial website that I maintain just for fun.

If you like Hall china you may also want to visit the website http://hallchinacollectors.com .  This website has a bulletin board for questions, reference materials on Hall China Teapots, pitchers, Hall catalogs, lid and body exchange, for sale pages and a lot more.

Have fun collecting and I hope you enjoy the information presented here!

I have just written and printed a 40 page pocket guide to Hall refrigerator ware and pitchers, and I am offering it for sale for $6.00 (Although this website is primarily non-commercial I now just a few items for sale!) This guide is a compact reference on shapes, colors, and sizes that you can easily take with you when you are shopping or traveling.

I just went through some of my Hall that I have packed away, and have found a number of items that no longer really fit into my “collection”. Most of these are small pieces, duplicates, or items I picked up as sample of colors and I now have something different.

Hall China Color Glaze Chart
I hope these web pages and color charts will help the Hall collectors identify the color of pieces in their collection .  . . .
"Hall devised more colors than any other American china company and probably more than most combined. Often they were colors that would have been difficult or impossible for other companies to achieve; in fact, Hall sometimes did glazing work for other well-known china firms." Harvey Duke

Walls of Color
These are peoples collections all in one color or one shape in many colors.  You can share your collection here by sending me your "Wall of Color"

A few  words about Values and Pricing
I believe that the VALUE of a piece of Hall China lies in the enjoyment and pleasure that a collector finds in collecting, displaying and sharing his passion for collecting with others.  The concept of value transcends that of financial considerations.  I do find great value in Hall China and I hope that you do too.  Have fun!

The PRICE of any item is entirely dependent upon the moods of the buyer and seller at the time of the transaction.  Nothing has a fixed price and the price of nothing stays fixed. Reference books can be helpful, but often they set the price rather than reflect the market. They can never be timely as the information gathered is usually years behind current trends.

Use these pages to help you identify your Hall refrigerator/kitchenware item. I am happy to answer questions, if I can, but please don't ask me to put a price on your item.

To help you estimate a retail price you can purchase the Hall collectors guides (on Amazon.com or from the Barnebey's )

Perhaps your most timely source of information is the results of closed auctions on an internet auction site.  You will find prices vary widely and do remember that condition is of prime consideration.  As Hall China usually wears very well, one tiny chip may make an item have little or no desirability.  To check out the current Hall China offerings try this Ebay Hall Link.  You can put in a search work like phoenix or hotpoint and find just those items.  Then on the left hand side choose CLOSED auctions to see what items actually sold for.

Ebay is the most popular on-line auction house with over 4 million items for sale at any one time and Hall China is well represented here.  You may also want to check out other auction sites.
