Santorini is located in the southern part of the Aegean and is the southernmost island of the Cyclades.  Its crescent shape is due to the activity of its currently dormant volcano.  This is the island that gives rise to the legend of Atlantis. The archaeological site at Akrotiri has revealed marvelous frescoes and buildings due to the manner in which it was destroyed... a massive volcanic eruption in 1700 B.C.

Modern Santorini has thirteen villages, including Phira, its capitol, and Oia, located at the western corner of the island crescent, possibly the most picturesque place in Greece.

Words cannot describe this place.
