Delos is the geographic and spiritual heart of the Cyclades, the traditional birthplace of the twin deities, Artemis and Apollo.  Just as the Sanctuary at Delphi is sacred to Apollo, so is this barren, windswept island.

The first souls to greet us as we stepped onshore were a mule and a donkey.  The cat, of course, wasn't awake yet.  The site is extensively excavated, and the museum contains some very ancient objects.
