Still Singing After All These Years

As I promised, here are a few pictures from the big event on May 31, 1997. A few things first. Although there was a sprinkle at about 9:00 a.m., the skies cleared and the conditions were warm and humid. It's good the organizers got 70,000 bottles of water:-)

This page includes photos from the On-Line Girl Scouts gathering at the Gazebo as well as the pre-Sing Along Activites. Some of the photos, properly credited of course, are by Jane Schuler, of Knoxville, TN. I thank her for the use of these.

The first big event of the day was the first kite arch launch. The winds cooperated enough during the day to allow the arch to stay aloft most of the time. Don wound up getting all 114 kites up.

After a bit of a slow start a sizable group gathered at the Gazebo. There was swapping of patches and swaps. There was also a lot of "You're <fill in a screen name>! It's so good to finally meet you in person. What swap did you bring?" I brought some for my wife, Adrienne, who was back at the sing along with our group holding onto the space under one of the few trees. The photos in the upper right and bottom left are from Jane Schuler.

Here are some of the SWAPS we collected. We have some on backpacks, some still on jackets or shirts and others in the car. These are now on "permanent" display in the dining room.

Also present, in photos from Jane Schuler, were Desiree and mascot Minnie Moose (L) and Beth with her hat full of SWAPS.

At the Sing Along site many attendees stopped at the tent with Girl Scout Memorabilia. In addition the Still Singing... logo kite was available for everyone to see up close. These photos were also from Jane Schuler.

Here are more Sing Along Photos!
