Dear Friends,
The past three months have been full of blessings and
challenges! In November, we celebrated our annual missions
conference at Iglesia Bautista El Calvario in San Ramon. The
church doubled its faith promise giving for missions, enabling
us to take on three new missionaries for monthly support and
increase our giving to other missionaries.
Also in November, I traveled to the Cayman Islands to help in
the restoration and cleanup of the extensive damage left in
Hurricane Paloma’s wake. My parents, who have served there for
40 years, did not suffer personal or physical damage, but their
home was practically destroyed and the church roof had to be
replaced. Several of the other church buildings suffered major
damage as well.
December passed like a whirlwind with Christmas and year-end
activities occupying our time and effort. In all of this we have
seen several people saved in the church services and visitation
efforts. Many tracts have been distributed and Bible courses
placed in the hands of new Christians. Now we are busy in youth
and children’s camp during the month of January. School vacation
in Costa Rica is observed during the months of December,
January, and February, which correspond to our summer or dry
season.
Please continue to pray for Richard’s safety, our younger son,
on deployment with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in the
Persian Gulf. Also, pray for Lathan, our older son, stationed at
the Pentagon with the DIA. God continues to bless our daughter,
Rachel, and her ministry with SCORE International in overseas
missions. She underwent three leg operations this past year and
has bravely submitted to therapy and stoically endured the pain.
She still owes several thousand dollars’ worth of medical bills
that her insurance would not pay. We have helped as much as
possible and are praying that God will miraculously supply the
rest. Until then, she sacrificially makes monthly payments to
these health institutions.
We look forward with great anticipation to God’s blessings on
our ministry during this year. Please continue to pray for us.
Thank you for your financial support which permits us to labor
in Costa Rica and other countries. And a very special thank you
to those who sent special Christmas offerings during this
season! These offerings helped us meet several worthy needs in
our ministry and the ministries of others.
Working together for Christ,
Russ and Lynn Turner
