What’s New?
Greetings to all of our faithful support
team members in the precious Name of Jesus!
June 1st marked the 5
year anniversary of our life in Mozambique! We
are praising God for all that He has done, all
the lessons learned, all the wonderful and all
the difficult things. We have grown to know and
love Jesus more. That, above all, is our
highest goal and calling!
How’s the
Internship Going?
The internship program is going amazingly
well. We are seeing God work in the lives of these
young guys as they learn to care for their souls and
grow in their faith. They are growing in their
understanding and application of God’s word and in
their ability to lead worship service and to preach.
The community
outreach/church planting side of the internship has really been slow
but purposeful. We want our relationships in the community to be
intentional and for our roots to go deep. We’ve started an English
language homework helps class and soccer and basketball on the
weekends. From these areas of outreach, we have seen the group
attending our services on Sunday grow from 12 people(the Schmidt
family and our interns) to an average of about 24 on Sundays.
What in the World is Mozovos?
The business
portion of the internship is also going very well. Since the work
began in late March, the land is cleared, the hen houses completed
and the cages are going in. The hens will arrive in July and we will
be open for business.
One of our challenges has been
that we weren’t able to buy land for the egg business in 25 de Junho,
the area where we are living. Instead, we purchased land 17
kilometers away in an area called Agostinho Neto. The surprising
outcome has been that community outreach is also happening in
Agostinho Neto. People are desiring and asking for a church service
in this area. We hope to start a pre-evangelism class there as God
opens the doors.
And the Fam?

This is a season of big change for our family.
Andrew is starting 9th grade in August and we will
be taking him to boarding school at Rift Valley
Academy in Kijabe, Kenya. Stephen is entering 5th
grade and will be studying at
home with a teacher of his own. The challenges of
educating our children in Mozambique has been a huge
concern
over these 5 years and God has provided and we are
very grateful for these opportunities. Please pray
for our
family during these transitions
Emergency financial need!
We’re guessing there’s not a missionary in the world
that isn’t facing a financial crunch in this current
economy. We are feeling the crunch of inflation on almost
every level. We’ve not needed to ask for a “raise”
in our support package for some time, but find it necessary to do
so this year. Here are our current needs/challenges:
Our boy’s education: A child in high school and even
our home school materials have increased our need.
We
need to raise an additional $300 a month for this
area.
Housing: the cost of renting and maintaining a house
here is growing at a very inflated rate. Last year,
we moved
out of our house in Maputo because the landlord
chose to double our rent. Still, we need to raise
additional funds
in the amount of $300 per month.
Work Funds: Due the drop in the value of the dollar
and SA Rand, political influences in South Africa
and Zimbabwe,
we are experiencing inflated prices in Fuel (over
6.00 a gallon) and in many areas of cost of living
we are
experiencing up to an 85% increase. Do to these
reasons, we are in need of raising an additional
300.00 a month
in our work funds. These funds keep us on the road,
enable us to be good stewards of mission property,
and do the
business that keeps us legal and free to do the work
we came to do.
Total monthly need:
900.00 a month!
In all these things, we want to express our thanks
to each of you for your continued support these past
5 years. If
you are unable to raise your support for us, we
still thank you with overflowing hearts for your
current prayer and
financial support. Please continue to partner with
us in the great work God is doing in Mozambique.
Blessings,
Rodger, Lynne, Andrew and Stephen Schmidt
