July 25, 2009
Hello, friends,
Last Monday, July 20th, we returned from a ten-day trip
to visit two supporting churches in New Mexico, and also
a church in Arizona which does not support us but has
sent money to help our Bible college that Jim teaches in
in Perú. It was a great time of fellowship with them and
with others along the way. This trip, it was just Jim,
Alethia, and Daniel who went, while our other three
children stayed home to work or look for work. Today
Sarah received a call that she has been accepted for a
job, and goes in this afternoon to fill out the
paperwork. That is an answer to prayer! Now that leaves
just Timothy, and two of his cousins, looking for work.
We would like to share a praise and then a prayer
request with you. The praise is that our support level
is up to 88%, so we have asked the mission office to
begin the clearance process for us! There is a
possibility of a little more support coming in also,
which would help, but if not, we can work with that. The
Lord has always supplied our needs as He has promised in
His Word!
Now comes the prayer request...we will be delayed in our
departure for Perú, not because of the finances now, but
because Alethia has to have surgery. For a few years she
has had problems which caused some discomfort but were
not serious. However, since the middle of May she has
had constant abdominal pain, and after doctor visits and
tests, it has been decided that she will have a
hysterectomy. This coming Wednesday (Jul 29) she has a
pre-surgery physical, so may learn the date of the
surgery then. It could be a month wait, then of course
she would have to recuperate and wait another month or
so for the doctor's clearance to travel. We ask you to
pray that we won't have to wait too long for the surgery
and for all to go well and a complete recovery.
Along the way, we have wished to be back in Perú, yet as
we have been delayed, there have been different things
that happened that made us thankful that we were still
here. One, of course, was when Tim got appendicitis in
May. (He is doing fine now.) Something else has come up
just this week that affects our family, so we can see
God's hand also in having to wait longer because of the
surgery. We ask your prayer for wisdom for us and others
in this unspoken request.
It is a privilege to serve the Lord, and we are grateful
for His promise in 1 Thessalonians 5:24, "Faithful is
He that calleth you, who also will do it." God
Himself is the One who works through us and equips all
of us to serve Him!
Awaiting His return,
Jim and Alethia Lossing
