July 21, 2009 Update

Hello. We finally arrived in Minnesota. We enjoyed our travels from Perú. We were able to see shark fishing in Florida, a war site in Georgia and friends and sites in North and South Carolina. We then stayed two weeks in a house provided by Bill and Roxanne Reynolds in Oberlin, Ohio. They were a blessing to our family in many ways. The house was just across the street from the First Congregational church where Charles Finney preached over a century before. We spoke with the pastor and the church is totally liberal now. They have a huge, beautiful monument there for the martyrs in the boxers rebellion in China and it is very controversial as all associated with the college totally reject the Bible these days. While there we did what we could to get ready for furlough at the Baptist Mid-Missions home office in Cleveland and the following week was spent at the 2009 Annual BMM Conference. It was a blessing for our entire family.

We then visited with Sam and Beth Rojas talking over things about the house and church in Urubamba where they will be filling in while we are in the states. Pray for them as they just found out that Beth is expecting their third child. They are excited about this blessing, but she is very sick. They hope to be able to arrive in Perú in the next month so please pray as they finish up reporting to their churches and then make the final preparations.

We arrived up in northern Minnesota last Wednesday (07/14) and so we've been getting settled into our home and enjoying family here. God has truly blessed us through the church family where Sharon grew up. Her brother Nathan is the pastor and he and his wife Donna found a house for us to live in. The church family then provided the furniture, washer, dryer, beds, dressers, desks and also stocked the cupboards and fridge. The kids are enjoying their cousins and we have already had many memories at the farm and lakes around here with our family and friends.

Pray for an opportunity I have to speak at a junior and Senior camp here in the next two weeks. Then I will be making a trip the second week of August to Iowa for a couple module courses at FBTS in Ankeny and for some meetings there.

Just got word this morning that our dog, queen, was poisoned and another propane gas tank was stolen from our house. Our neighbor also had two dogs poisoned. Pray for this time of transition and building the fence before Sam and Beth arrive.

Our mailing address is at Sharon's parents. It is 3244 Aurora Rd., Makinen, MN 55763. Our cell phone numbers are Ken: (218) 290-5007 and Sharon is (218) 290-5036 (Verizon). We will be contacting our churches soon to set up meetings if we haven't already got something set up. Thanks for your prayers and support and may God help us all to be faithful.
