Update June 19, 2009
Hello, I have not written for
a long time. Our colleague, Rachel Tarvin's father,
Don Tarvin, has been visiting in Cusco for more than
a month and helped me to get our information off my
old computer that died and we have got half of our
contacts onto the new computer and so now I can at
least send an update to those of you who are on the
list so far.
I think I haven't written since January so I will
send a quick up date to the present. In January we
went to Lima for the annual field conference with
all the BMM missionaries. Returning I preached at a
youth camp in Toqoqori and God blessed with some
good decisions. Several students from the camp ended
up coming and studying at the seminary this year. We
have over 20 students studying the first year now at
SEBIC. I translated the first class on the book of
Hebrews for Dr. Larry Fogle. Then I travelled to
Iquitos with a group of pastors translating and
helping them to evaluate future ministry there.
Following this I taught counselling II the next
three weeks. Then I was able to work on house and
furlogh for two weeks before Dr. Evis Carballosa
came to our seminary the end of May for a class on
Daniel besides the conferences he preached at. Then
on the 8th of June I translated I translated the
notes, study questions and quizzes/tests for
Revelation for Pat Campbell, and a class on Pastoral
Theology for Dr. Ernie Schmidt. There were 4 classes
translated from English to Spanish and it was a
challenging last two weeks besides there extra
preaching assignments in various churches. This was
finished on the 18th of June and we came went to
Cusco in the evening and then on to Lima early
morning on the 19th. So now I here getting ready for
our flight to Miami on the 22nd.
There have been some salvation decisions, many
decisions for spiritual growth, and a marriage in
these months and now we are looking forward to God's
provision for furlough ministry from June 2009 to
May 2010. We arrive in Miami on the 22nd and I will
let you know our cell phone number ASAP when we get
to the states. We will be driving to Ohio and
arriving on the 27th and staying there near
Cleveland till the 10th of July when the Annual
Conference finishes. Then we will be going to visit
Sam and Beth Rojas in Iowa who will replace us for
our year of furlough in our house and at the church.
They will be coming short term and then finishing up
their deputation, but they now have 55% of their
support and pray that other churches will join them
in their prayers and support. Then we will be going
up to Aurora, MN where we will be living until just
after Christmas.
Pray for our colleagues who are carrying on the
different ministries in the Cusco area including
radio, translation, seminary and the different
church ministries. Also pray for Bruce and Debbie
Maddux and children who are finishing their language
studies in Lima and will be arriving in Cusco in
August or September Lord willing. Also pray for Pat
and Wendy Campbell who are also going to start
Spanish language studies very soon and Lord willing
will be down to teach several classes at the
seminary next year, finish deputation and then down
to work with the seminary on a full time basis very
