Fall 2009

Dear Praying Friends,

On the 30th of April, Dina and I were in Quillabamba (interior from Cusco) to go further interior the next day...but we couldn't because of a strike. We are going to try again to speak to the ladies in Kapashary the 30th of September. The fun thing is that we are planning to come back to Cusco on the 3rd of October to go to Lima for the Second National Congress of Women on the 6th. It used to take 35 days to go to Lima from Cusco....but now the road is paved and it takes 20/24 hours! Martha, Lois, Dina and I, and about 10 other ladies will be going from our church in San Sebastian. PTL!!! Our efforts to have the first National Women’s Congress in Cusco last year has expanded. There are women from five countries beside Peru coming to join us.

Here is a picture of Dina and I in Pampacamara where we spoke to women for three days. We gave each of the women a Wordless Book and taught them to use it, beside lessons on "Growing in Love." There were 60 booklets, and they were all gone!

God blessed when I taught a course on the Christian Home at our Urubamba Seminary in August for three weeks. The Seminary will be celebrating its 15th birthday in October. I will be carrying on a tradition by making pancakes for students and visitors on October 14th.

I was voted to be the director of the Sunday School in San Sebastian for these four months. Organizing materials is one of my gifts, and the wonderful thing is that there are now teachers that know how to teach! What a difference from when we started the Church about 30 years ago!

I want to wish you a Blessed Thanksgiving with you and yours. Getting a turkey for our Thanksgiving is always a big project, but worth it!
