Funeral notice:
Many of our readers will regret to learn of the death of Mr. William Grassie, a once well known and respected resident of Seaforth. He died at his home in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on the 9th of April, after an illness of several months. The remains were interred in the Presbyterian Cemetary at Portage la Prairie, on the 11th of April.
The Portage Daily Graphic makes the following reference to the deceased:
“For many years the later Mr. Grassie has resided in this town, and has held the esteem of all its citizens. Up to 7 years ago, when he retired from business here his activity, checkered by seasons of prosperity and calamities as great. By persistant effort he might have comfortably retired had not misfortune followed.
“Three times his shop and all its contents was destroyed by fire at Seaforth, Ont. And in one of these conflagrations, Mr. Grassie’s loss was very large. He was so discouraged he decided to move to Manitoba, and he located at Portage.”
He was a native of Scotland. Born in Aberdeenshire on March 25, 1826. Married Miss Margaret Smith of the same Shire, emigrated to Canada and settled in Galt. Ont. Later moved to Seatforth.
The members of the Family, with the exception of the first child, who died in infancy, all survive him and are all known in Portage.

Walter lives in Vancouver.
Mrs. Garnier resides in Portage la Prairie.
Alex is located at Oak Lake.
John, James, Miss Maggie, Charles, George are all in Portage.
All the members of the Family along with their aged Mother receive the sincerest sympathy of the whole community.
