Shanghai

in a city of cold blue stone
we awoke like two celestials

fallen from Heaven onto silken
bedsheets at the Peace Hotel,

our arms and legs curved into
each other like Yin and Yang,

and we lay on the bed looking up
at the high ceiling,

listening to bicycle bells,
motorscooter horns and the rain
streaming down outside in the Bund
