Ann
is our office administrator. Although she does not
have direct contact with patients, she oversees the
daily operation of the office.

Alice
is in charge of billing and collections. She is extremely
helpful in helping our patients to obtain correct
information from the insurance companies for adequate
reimbursement and minimizes our patients' co-payments
when feasible. Alice will help patients' who need
to discuss any financial issues or work out payment
plans with no interest in order to decrease the financial
burden that medical care may cause. We certainly do
not want financial issues to influence deciding regarding
health care.

Karen
was a full-time operating room nurse prior to joining
Goldsboro Neurological Surgery. Karen is a patient
coordinator. She is in charge of scheduling surgery
and pre and post-operative patient education. She
is also a liaison between the physicians in the practice
and the patients for minor issues that can be dealt
with telephonically.
The role of our nurses is somewhat different from
that which is considered usual in most office settings.
Each physician has his own registered nurse who functions
as his assistant. We are engaged as Neurosurgery Assistants
within the category of Ancillary Health Professional.
In addition to working in the office, we assist the
physician in surgery and provide assistance for inpatient
management at the hospital. It is our belief that
this continuity of association will provide for our
patients an increased level of confidence and care
which will enhance their recovery. We are present
pre-, intra-, and post operatively serving as a direct
and continuous link between the physician and the
patient.

Phyllis,
Sally and Lee Ann are our receptionists. They are
in charge of checking patients in or out and scheduling
follow-up appointments. They also schedule any tests
ordered by the physicians prior to their follow-up
appointments.
