12/04/2007 - Shavora's ears are coming up at 9+ weeks old
12/04/2007 - Things Shavora has been doing lately:

One night her food dish was empty. It is normally in the kitchen. She brought it out into the family room and set it down and stared at it. (I fed her.) She doesn't eat when we are gone and she is locked in the kitchen with her full food dish. She is not a gobbler. She takes a bite or two and then is off to explore other things.

She is starting to want to jump up. She puts her front paws on the couch and on our legs. We are teaching her "down".

She wants to go into a couple rooms that she knows she isn't supposed to go. She knows what "out" means.

When she needs to go outside (#2), she runs around and plops her backside down for a second on the puppy pad we have in the corner. (We have to keep our eyes open for this.) Outside she runs in a circle, as if maybe centrifical force will get her business going.
12/06/2007 - Shavora has started to sleep on the cool hearth in front of the woodstove (cool when there is no fire going)
12/07/2007 - Shavora likes to push boundaries. She knows she is not supposed to go in the cat's "safe" room, but once in awhile she sneaks through the small opening and gets in trouble. For the most part she is content to visit the cats through the gate.

12/12/2007 - Shavora seems to be growing before our eyes. I've loosened her collar twice in a short time. Today, we took Chrisy (white cat) back to the adoption agency where we got her. She had too many issues (like missing the cat box). So Shavora only has one cat to mess with now.
12/14/2007 - Shavora almost had a taste of a candy cane right off the tree. However, a loud "NO!" stopped her in her tracks. She is rarely allowed in this room and we have to keep an eye on her when she is in there, especially now with the decorated tree.
12/16/2007 - Queen of her property. Shavora is in the nice fenced backyard here. But behind that is another couple acres that she has access to. It is totally fenced, so I had her off-leash back there a couple times. At first she was afraid of the big open spaces, so she stayed right under my feet.

By the third time she was running full gallop wherever she wanted. Then I started loosing control. So now she is on a leash when we go out on the big property until she learns to come when called.

We went up to our neighbors fence line so Shavora could visit with Sheba, the neighbor's female German Shepherd. Shavora was pretty timid, and Sheba was being a grumpy old lady. But eventually they got nose to nose through the fence.
12/24/2007 - (Almost 3 months old -- the 27th is the 3 month mark.) This Christmas Eve Shavora made her first trip to the coast. We stopped at a Park in Cannon Beach. I climbed this play structure and Sondra and Shavora followed me up. Shavora climbed the steps with no hesitation. At one point Sondra had to allow Shavora to climb over her lap, because the tube was too slipery for her. But Shavora showed no fear and I slide down the slide with her in my lap.

While we were walking in this park, Shavora checked out every piece of wood and "whatever" on the ground.
12/24/2007 - We took Shavora down on the beach, although with high tide we couldn't get down on the sand until there was a break in the waves.
12/24/2007 - Shavora was looking for the perfect piece of drift wood.
12/24/2007 - Sondra and Shavora took a very short walk in the sand while the waves allowed. Right after this, Shavora wanted off the beach. It was just after that a sneaker wave came in and caught another family up to their knees.
12/24/2007 - We took Shavora into Cannon Beach to give her a chance to meet some people and some other dogs. Here they are both watching a beagle walk by.
12/24/2007 - Sondra is looking at the camera, but Shavora is still watching the beagle walk down the street.
12/25/2007 - Christmas day brings new toys. Christmas day also brought lots of snow. This was the second snow this year for Shavora, and she loved it just as much this time as the first.
