You Interview Your Fave - Bobby Sherman
Interviewed by Sandra Fredrick - Liverpool, New York
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE SUBJECT IN SCHOOL?
Football. I say that without reservation. And band. I loved band, that was music. I think the thing I had the most difficulty with was history.
WHAT IS YOUR IDEA OF A PERFECT DATE?
Where everybody is happy and where you really enjoy yourself. Whatever you do - not being specific like going to a show and then to dinner makes a perfect date - it's the people. You could stay home and watch TV and have a perfect evening if the two people hit it off. I mean, there's no set formula that you follow in order to have a perfect evening. It's whether or not you have a good time with your date.
BESIDES "HERE COME THE BRIDES," WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE TV SHOWS?
"Mod Squad," "Mission Impossible," "This is Tom Jones," and believe it or not, I like to watch the old reruns of "Perry Mason."
WHAT DO YOU FEEL WHEN "HERE COME THE BRIDES, NEXT IN COLOR" COMES ON THE SCREEN?
I don't get to see all the shows, but when I know it's coming up and I know what the show is about, I think I anticipate. To see my friends and my fellow actors perform is fun. I hope that the performances that I give, what I'm about to see for myself, is good and I hope it convinces me. I do get excited.
IF YOU COULD BE ANYONE IN SHOW BUSINESS, PAST OR PRESENT, WHO WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE?
That's a very good question. You know what I would do, there are so many people that I admire that are happening today and that have happened, that I couldn't pick just one of them. I think I would like to stay me...but I would like to be a good enough actor to capture a feeling of each of these people. It's like doing imitations. I think the greatest compliment to an actor is somebody who imitates him. But I would never want to steal anybody's style.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE DAY OF THE WEEK?
My favorite day of the week, I think is Friday, at night. I don't do anything really special, it's just that it's the end of the week. A lot of the shooting is over. Sometimes I go out, sometimes I stay home and relax. It's just a night to relax and think over what I've been doing.
IF YOU HADN'T GONE INTO SHOW BUSINESS, WHAT OCCUPATION DO YOU THINK YOU MIGHT HAVE CHOSEN?
This is hard, because I think I might have gone into another end of show business - like behind the scenes as opposed to being an actor.
IF YOU WERE ASKED TO MAKE A TIME CAPSULE, WHAT WOULD YOU PUT IN IT TO REPRESENT AMERICA TODAY?
That's a really tough question, because it's so broad. The only thing I could really say is "Hope".
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SAYING OR MOTTO?
I say, "Hi, babe" to everybody, but as far as a motto goes, I don't think I have one. I really have no philosophy other than what has been adopted. I believe in peace, like everybody else, but that's nothing original. I don't think I have delusions of grandeur of thinking that I can be a pacesetter. I just think that I believe in what young people and old people are trying to get across to each other. Communication.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TYPE OF GIFT?
I want to answer this very honestly and since I get so many different kinds of gifts I couldn't pick one favorite. My favorite type of gifts, honestly is one that is given from the heart. One that somebody really feels - whether it's a pin or a ring or a piece of tissue paper. When someone really feels they want to give me something, then what it is doesn't matter.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO ON RAINY DAYS?
I like the rain. Sometimes I really like being in it. I like driving in it sometimes. And again, sometimes, I just like to be home. I think rain is always an inside nostalgia no matter where you are. So it's nice just being somewhere where it's comfortable.
