Did the above statements startle you when you saw them in print? Are you one of the many people who wrote to me or 16 Magazine asking if any - or all - of these items are true? Well, if these quotes (or others like them) surprised and shocked you - imagine how they affected me!

At first, when I read an untrue rumor about myself, I didn't worry too much about it. But after awhile rumors literally began popping up all over the place - and sometimes with quotes, insinuating that I actually made the statement myself. Finally, I decided it was time I did something about all of these false articles, items and rumors - especially since so many of you wrote asking for the truth. Don't get me wrong - I don't blame you for wondering about any rumors you might have read regarding me, and I'm not angry with you if you did believe any of them. After all, how are you supposed to separate the facts from the fiction - unless I personally spell it out for you? I must admit that some of the stories I've read about myself sound very convincing. If they were articles about someone else instead of about me - I too might have believed them! Items and stories - such as the one quoted under the pictures - made it seem as though I, Bobby Sherman, was leading a very wild secret life!

But did you ever stop to think of this? If all of those items were true I'd be quite a social butterfly, living it up constantly - with no time left to do any work! Gee, I really wish I did have more time for fun, but as it is right now - I spend five days a week filming Here Come the Brides and most of my weekends are just as hectic, cos I've been traveling all over the United States promoting my records and doing personal appearances. But do you know what bothers me most about these phony items? The danger of my fans actually thinking that I would deceive them - that's what!

MY FANS ARE MY "LUVS" - My fans - who are more like friends - have been good to me. You've made possible any success that I've achieved because of your faith and trust in me and, most of all, because you really and truly care. Well, I care a great deal about you too! That's why I feel you should know the truth about me - the naked truth - no matter what it is, not just something made up because it sounds better or more controversial and will help people sell more newspapers or magazines. It wouldn't bother me so much if something negative was written about me - if it were true. But to my way of thinking, false items and untrue stories - well, that's just bad news any way you look at it!

The most widely circulated rumor is that I am secretly married or that I am about to take a real-life bride any day now. This "scoop" was even announced on TV! I've seen my name linked with many girls (some of whom I've never even met!), but the girl most often selected by the gossip mongers to be my "secret wife" is an actress named Patti Carnel. Well, the truth is - I am not married, not engaged and not even going steady with any one girl! I have dated Patti and, unfortunately, some reporters decided to make a big thing of it. The truth is, I date several other girls too - and I am still "shopping", as the saying goes.

I promise all my fans and friends (and I honestly mean this) that when and if the day comes that I really do fall in love and plan to get married - you'll be the first to know! You have my word on that!

In the meantime, please don't believe anything you read about me until I've had the chance to confirm it. And please remember this - you can always count on 16 Magazine and 16 Spec for the whole truth about anything concerning me!
