Helen B. and Bobby...
Okay!
Here's my story and I'm sticking to it.
In 1970 I took my friend to see Bobby in concert and before the third song, because of all
the girls jumping on the stage, the concert was cancelled. I never thought I'd get
to meet him again.
The year of the Northridge Earthquake K-EARTH (our local radio station) had a concert of a
major amount of stars. Bobby was one of them, but he did not sing. My husband
said you mean we paid all this money and he's not going to sing? I shouted to Bobby
SING!!! Bobby said what? I said "SING". He asked my name, and
I said Helen. He sang, "Helen, Helen, Helen Do You Love Me?" I went
up to the stage to get an autograph, and he invited me backstage to get it. I, being
raised properly, went back after the show was over. Bobby had left the building.
I was heartbroken.
A year or so later I was volunteering at an Earthquake Preparedness Fair. I was
getting the booth set up in the morning when I heard somebody whispering, do you know
who's coming? It's Bobby Sherman. He pulled up in his red Dodge Daytona and
proceeded to be at the booth two down from mine. I said hello and then went about my
work. I later got into my costume and was told I was needed on stage. I went
up and guess who I was standing next to me while in costume? Yep, you guessed it
Bobby. From then on Bobby knew me as The Bear.
I think the best thing that has happened from meeting Bobby is getting to know all the
other wonderful fans and getting a chance to make one girl's dream come true. I had
a backstage pass for the Teen Idols Tour and was considering giving her mine to meet him
since I already had. I called April and she gave the young lady a pass and so we
both got to go backstage to see Bobby.
Like I said that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Peace Love and Bobby Sherman 4EVER
Helen
p.s. from Ginny...I'm working on getting a picture of Helen in her bear costume
with Bobby (!!), but for now, this one is from Rialto 2003.
