Since the diaries are quite lengthy it would probably be easier read them off-line

Notes of interest:   Josiah or "Si" was a childhood friend of Louisa May Alcott.  After the death of his wife about 1890, his daughter, Cuma,  was sent to Boston from New Mexico to live with the Alcott family and attend school in Boston.  After the civil war Josiah took his savings from the war and went to medical school and became a doctor.  He later served as an Indian scout for the U S Army.  In the late 1800's he operated a ferry at Socorro, New Mexico (Arizona Territory) and entered into mining speculation near Silver City, New Mexico. About 1900 he moved to the Globe-Miami area of Arizona where he located a mining claim on Pinto Creek, west of Miami.  He died of heart failure while traveling to Washington state to visit his eldest daughter, Cora.
