About the Author

Currently, I serve as Lead Teacher for the Social Studies Department at Denbigh High School (Newport News Public Schools) in Newport News, Va.

I fell in love with the study of geography when I first started teaching it 10 years ago.  I have taught geography primarily to 9th grade honors students for the last 4 years.

During the 1998/99 school year, I served as President of the Virginia Geographical Society.   My professional endeavors also include curriculum development, training teacher mentors, creating practice test items for the Virginia SOL tests, and (most recently) revising actual test items for these tests.

About the Site

Geography Classroomis designed to be a research tool for high school students, an instructional tool for teachers, and a support tool for parents.

This site mainly provides links of interest to those who study and teach Geography at the secondary level.  However, I have also included research links that all students can use for classwork, homework, and study.  As time permits, I will be adding more resources, lesson plans, and information.

For information about resources used in creating this site, see Acknowledgments.
