Excerpt from a work based on my Concerto in One Movement for Violin and Orchestra, in a radiant live performance by Corigliano Quartet violinist Lina Bahn, at the Greenwich House, New York City, 11 March, 2004.

This work--there are two versions: flute, cello and piano, represented here; and the original version for flute, viola and harp--is inspired by the paper on which it was written: literally, Bright White Smooth.  And as such, follows in the tradition of the visual arts, wherein works are often identified by the medium (oil on canvas, etc.).  The performance, by L'Ensemble Portique, dates from 11 March, 2004, Greenwich House, New York City.

Dare to Breathe, the Twin Cities-based vocal ensemble, here performs a work which they commissioned, for five voices with percussion and recorders . . . inspired by troubadour songs of the 12th and 13th c. This is a studio recording, made in St. Paul, 2 March, 2000.

This is the first movement from a five movement work for guitar and mandolin composed for the German Duo Ahlert & Schwab and premiered at the 2003 La Guitarra California Festival. The work is a response to the paintings of 19th c. Danish artist Vilhelm Hammershøi, whose often melancholy images, created with a limited palette of muted colors, predominantly on a gray scale, combine immaculate geometric designs and a stunning application of light, resulting in works of haunting power.

A Trio for flute, English horn and piano, in a live recording from the Music 98 Festival, College Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati . . . featuring Christopher Chaffee, flute; Emily Hofer, English horn; and Jordje Nesic, piano. Recorded at the Dieterle Vocal Arts Center, 16 June, 1998.

A brief excerpt--about two minutes--from my Missa solemnis. This is the closing dona nobis pacem, in a performance featuring the Gregg Smith Singers, from the Adirondack Festival of American Music, Lake Placid, New York . . . summer, 1999. This work is dedicated to my Dad.

A chamber work for flute, alto saxophone, trumpet, two percussion, piano and string bass, inspired by the 1988 Andy Warhol Self Portrait, in a complete performance by the PAFA Chamber Players, from the Academy of Fine Arts, Philadelphia. This work won the 2000 Andy Warhol Social Observer Prize, and incorporates both contemporary classical language and elements of bebop jazz.
