All Surnames in the Family Trees of
Thomas Samuel Vance and
Patricia Douglas Vance

Most of our families come from Scotland, Ireland and England to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina and Middle Tennessee

     The information on these pages came from long research comprised of interviews with family members, famly bibles, correspondence, extensive research in libraries and on line searches. I have tried to keep up with my sources. If you find a source with a .ftw extension, that means I imported it from a famly file in my research. As a general rule, I put my sources on "notes" for the individual. Be sure to check them. If you find what you think may be of help in your search, contact me and I will furnish any further information I can.

Notes for Nancy Henry

[whitake1.FTW]

Higdon records Nancy's DOB 31 July 1821 in White County, Tennessee . Wilbert Whitaker said 31 July 1824, as does Henry's Family Group sheet on the James Madison Whittaker family. Wilbert was one of Henry's sources.

{"Putnam County Tennessee Cemeteries" does not reflect her burial in the Henry Cemetery.}
Carson Whiteaker recalls that the tombstone reads "Susie Henry" though she had first married James Madison Whittaker and a second marriage was to Sam Bryant. However, Benton D. Henry told the preparer he had seen her tombstone and he had even taken pictures of it. It reads "Nancy Bryant" with no mention of Susie. Benton has failed in all attempts to document the "Susa or Susie" nickname. This only adds to the dispute (to some extent) about whether her nickname was "Susa or Susie".
