All Surnames in the Family Trees of
Thomas Samuel Vance and
Patricia Douglas Vance

Most of our families come from Scotland, Ireland and England to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina and Middle Tennessee

     The information on these pages came from long research comprised of interviews with family members, famly bibles, correspondence, extensive research in libraries and on line searches. I have tried to keep up with my sources. If you find a source with a .ftw extension, that means I imported it from a famly file in my research. As a general rule, I put my sources on "notes" for the individual. Be sure to check them. If you find what you think may be of help in your search, contact me and I will furnish any further information I can.

Notes for Lidgard Jefferson "Leige" Whiteaker

[whitake1.FTW]

Higdon spells the first name "Ligard" and lists the DOB as 15 Feb 1841. The name probably came from the Henry Family's use of Lidgard in honor of a fallen militia comrade (see Lidgard Fine Henry, b. 11 SEP 1818 or 1820). Carson Whitteaker records the YOB as 1843. Tombstone reflects 16 Feb 1843 as DOB.

Tombstone reads "L.J. WHITEAKER".

He was assigned to Company K, 25th Infantry. {This was found on p.264 of an unidentified document that Ken gave the preparer. Find out where it came from.}

Household # 3/3 - children residing in this home were: James, Mary, Josiah, Sonora, Dempsey, Harriet, Martha and Ocie. Billie Ford's records list four (4) additional children, but no DOB's. {They must have been born subsequent to this census.}
