I took the oath of allegiance to the U.S. Govt. some time after this I
was unable to walk at the time and Col. Stoke's men were at Sparta and Iwas
foreced to take the oath.

Elizabeth Henry, Cookeville, Putnam County, State of Tennessee residentof Tennessee all of my life. I am 81 years old. My maiden name wasElizabeth Mason. I was born in White County, Tennessee in June 1836.
My hasband's name was William J. Henry- He was born in White County, now
Putnam County about 1838. We were married in Fall of 1860 in WhiteCounty,
Tenn. the ceremony was performed by Rev. Thomas Stone, a Baptistminister.
When and where did your Husband die? In July 1916 at our home in White
County.
How many children did you have by your said husband? Give sex and age at
this time. One son and one daughter are dead. I had seven children allby
my said husband. Five are now living. Two sons and three daughters. My
sons, are John D and W.C. HENRY both over 50 years old. My daughters are
Mary Mackie, aged about 50, Eliza Weaver aged about 49 and Hannah Baker,
aged about 38. {Hannah had been married to John "Sheepeye" Jackson with
whom she had one daughter, Della Mae Jackson Farley, she later marriedBill
Baker}.Two witnesses who answered questions on a later form were W. L. Baker and
E. H. Boyd. Not much further information was given in their statements.
