HH# on census sheet was 229 leading me to believe Thomas Douglas who was
and lived close by (HH 225] could have been his father. Bryant named his
oldest son "Thomas" and his oldest daughter "Edith" which makes it even
more convincing that Bryant is the son of Thomas. There are several more
Douglases on the page. My further research has led me to believe
Thomas is an uncle to Bryant (brother of Rodham) Thomas was a farmer
also. His land was valued at $800

(I believe Thomas was living with his brother, Rodham or his father John
at this time. He was not found on the Census.

Hi Pat, Yes, the John and Susannah Douglas in your other e-mail
are theancestors I also traced back to in my Douglas research. My line
has been proven and documented back to them. I haven't been able to go
back any farther, but was hoping to go to the Northern Neck of Virginia
to research some day. I haven't done any research since connecting to
the Internet.
Well, I have about 50 boxes of research material. Summer before
last, I pulled my Douglas files out of one box while working on a
Shepherd book and now I have no idea where they are. As I have time,
I'll sort through some of the boxes, but it's such a tedious and time
consuming process. It'd probably be easier and quicker to go back
to the Archives in Nashville.
Somewhere here in this house is a document that names Thomas
and Edith Thompson Douglas's children (at least the surviving ones).
I can't say when I'll find it, but when I do, I'll provide you with the
information or a photocopy. I'm almost sure Bryant was one of the
children. Without doubt, I remember nothing on it surprised me. It
just verified conclusions I'd made about their children. Also, I was
particularly interested in Bryant at the time since there was another set
of Douglases with a Bryant in neighboring Henderson County. I tried,
but couldn't connect those Douglases to ours.
At the time I contacted you, I wasn't researching. A cousin forwarded
a Douglas forum URL and I just happened to find you through your
Thomas and Edith Douglas post. I'm nowhere near ready to get back
into research yet. Warm regards, Shelia
