Woman journalist Nellie Bly (Elizabeth Jane Cochrane) combined daring with a flair for drama to revolutionize the role of women reporters. From traveling around the world in 72 days to having herself committed to Blackwell's Island to expose mistreatment of people with mental illness, her exploits still inspire authors.

Nellie Bly was not only among the first women reporters, but she also was a pioneer of investigative journalism, often at considerable personal risk. Here are some of the books that are available for research -- or just enjoyable reading -- about Nellie Bly. If you have suggestions for books or other reference sources which should be listed, please email me.
