(following this link will take you off this site) Published in 1994 by Times Books/Random House, the book inspired a PBS special for which Kroeger served as the principal consultant. A rival paper sent Elizabeth Bisland to try to outrace Nellie around the globe. Bisland's trip took 76 days, versus Nellie's 72 days. This book recounts their journeys, and contrasts their distinctive characters and personal approaches to the race. |
