The 8 Th. Annual Meyer's Train Show
was held on January 29-30, 2000
in Edison New Jersey

Every year for the past 8 years Meyer's Discount Hobby Stores
has sponsored a free to the public train show on Superbowl weekend.
Exhibitor participation is by invitation only and it has  been my privilege
to be a part of the these shows.

This was my fourth year with the show. Each year I have provided
an N scale exhibit to the show. Besides N, we had the O scale club with a
huge 12 x 24 operating 3 track oval and three trains running constantly.
There was also an LGB exhibit, a Lionel loop and an 12 foot HO loop running.

The crowd this year was a little lighter on both days than last year's show,
attributable ( I think ) to the snowy weather and poorly cleared road conditions.
But those who did attend were not disappointed. The kids all had a great
time as I and some of the other operators provided buttons for diesel horns,
steam whistles, crossing gates and changeable traffic lights for the pubic to operate.

I continuously ran three trains, changing engines every hour or so to avoid
damaging the motors. I ran a good variety of diesel and steam. The crowd's
favorite being the 4-8-4 Union Pacific Overland Express pulling 7 coaches.
Not bad for a little N scale display !

Father and son engineers !

We had a test track for each of the scales for the public to bring in
old engines and have them tested and appraised.
There was a train doctor on site to arrange repairs and give estimates.

All trains and accessories were on sale for the show and I found
some good deals on things I needed. I also bought up the last of their
space and sci-fi model stock.

Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you all at next year's show.
