Fukuoka Today

The picture at right is of Fukuoka as it looks today. It has grown into Japan's eighth largest city, and is a major tourist attraction. It now has modern freeways and a subway system. You can see its modern, domed stadium and Fukuoka Tower, Fukuoka's tallest building, in this picture, with closer views of them below. |

The tower is also known as the "Mirror Sail" because of its height and reflective glass. The stadium is home for the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks baseball team.  |
